Thumbs down IWB holster options 686 plus 4”?

Hi everyone! This is my first post/thread here.

I recently purchase a Smith & Wesson 686 Plus 4”. I would really love to find an IWB holster for this beautiful awesome revolver. Any suggestions? I’ve spent a couple of hours searching the internet and could only find them for 686 Plus 2-3” revolvers.

4" inch L frame is getting on the big side for IWB so it might be hard to find as a catalog item. I'm sure you could get someone to make you one though. I am fond of Lobo Gunleather and Milt Sparks for leather.

For Kydex you could try Dale Fricke, he made me a nice 3" L frame holster.

I have a Slim XC for a 686+-4, 2.5” from TT Gunleather. It’s made so the body side leather is as flat as possible. A reinforced belt is recommended. It’s a heavy CC but it can be done. I’ve bought a couple of Slim XC’s from Tim. The wait time is minimal.

+1 for Simply Rugged. I have two of their in waistband holsters, one for a 629 and one for a full sized 1911.

While late to the game. Let me put in my endorsement for Simply Rugged holsters. I have one for my 686 2.5” and a model 60. Getting ready to order one for my 686-4+ today.

I recommend a Sparks VM2 holster. While 4" is a little long for IWB, it's definitely doable. I have several VM2 holsters, including the one I'm wearing now with a 3" 686+. I also have one for a 4" M66-1.
  • Two, non-rotating belt loops
  • Wide, for good weight distribution and support
  • Metal reinforcement on mouth so you can re-holster with one hand
  • Horsehide rear panel, for moisture resistance
  • Slot between ears and body, for better fit and comfort.

+1 for the vmII. i have one for my 4" 586. also have several others for hipower, and 1911. IMHO, finest most comfortable IWB ever made. often copied, never duplicated... not a paid endorsement.
