Found a model 14-2 at pawnshop
Found a used 38 Special , approximately 4.5 inch barrel. About when was it made and what would be the worth? If this is the wrong forum, please move as is appropriate.

The 14-2 was made almost exclusively in six-inch barrel configuration. Are you measuring from the forcing cone to the muzzle? (No offense intended)

If it's in nice shape, depending on your location, maybe $599 is OK. If shape is not so nice, or if its been butchered, then maybe not. It depends on the condition. Thus, the request for pictures.

For what it's worth...based on my location (Texas) and a couple of years ago, I got one in 99-100% condition for $550. It might be worth it if it is in original nice condition.

Thanks everyone for your comment. If I do negotiate a good price and buy it, I do plan to post pictures and serial number!

There were a small amount of 4" Model 14-2's produced which fetch a premium.
If it is one of those it would have a smooth barrel rib like the one on the right in the picture below:

Just remember, pawn shops have half or less invested in their posted prices... I have no sympathy trying to beat them down...
