Default Mr. Spegel does it again.

Looong wait but a beautiful example or Craig Spegels work with standard grade cocobolo on a 586L comp.
I just wanted a grip I could use for work and not panic if they got a ding here and there.
My memory says nearly two years from first contact to delivery.

Without a doubt those grips are beautiful and worth every penny. However, my impulsive, "want-it-yesterday" level of maturity would not last 2 years.

Good for you for "adulting." LOL

Mine, shown below on my Colt's Agent, look kinda like yours.
Craig called them Extended Boots. I don't remember what
kind of wood. Wish I knew.

Please don't call me an adult. I am only 73.
Clever me though, Craig does not do e-mail so I did enter Craig Spegel with phone number into my phone contacts list so I wouldn't dismiss his call 20 months later as a telemarketer.

Until you’ve owned a set of Spegels you have no idea how great they are, imo.

Nice grips....certainly worth the wait.

Didn’t know that cocobolo was still available as I thought I read this was on some endangered species list.

I have one set of Spegel grips in cocobolo (shown on my 19-5) which I purchased from a forum member a couple of years ago and which were promptly delivered. Not sure I could have waited 20 months; you’re a patient soul!

It is an “endangered” wood.
I think Craig must have stored up a huge load of cocobolo. Ahrends seems to have run out and offers other woods that are somewhat close but not quite as fine as Cocobolo.

Me, too. I got mine (cocobolo Centennial grips) from Novak's when they used to stock them.

Craig did a great set of Boot+ in Cocobolo for me last year for a custom 686 project, made 'em on the day of an eclipse & marked 'em as such on the inside of one panel.

His stuff is ALWAYS worth waiting for.

Climbing aboard.

Those are gorgeous, OP.

Here are two sets Craig did for me earlier this year (2 years on the list -- worth the wait).

He had to do some extra finessing for the Baby Chiefs (couldn't simply cut off a pair made on the Model of 1953 and later frames).

Really happy. Ebony on the Baby and Cocobolo on the 940.

Thanks for the compliment. Von Ringler in nw Wyoming made the leather for me. He made a matching one for my 3" 547, and Craig also made grips for that one. I'll post shots of the pair after I get the 547 back from the factory.
