Default Value of 19-5 ?

I have a friend who has a 19-5 blue 6" in excellent condition he wants to sell. It still has the factory target grips.
Forum members opinion of approx value appreciated.

I'd say from a friend, somewhere around $450 to $500, if you are buying.

I'm seeing the -5 and sometimes an older pinned and recessed one out in the $500 to $600 range.

Default No more than five bills.

Or I would walk away from it.

Perhaps I overpaid but bought this one a year or so ago for $550 and was glad to get it. Where I shop I'd be surprised to find one in this condition under $600. Good luck.

Condition, usage, box , 3T's all make a difference. I would say 550 to 700, depending on options. Remember different parts of the country seem to bring different prices. i paid more than that for a 19-4. NIB and docs, box, 3 T's etc. Why, because I wanted it, and sometimes the fine( pristine ) stuff you have to pay more, because you want it, and they do not appear every day

I always see people saying prices around this amount for a LOT of nice old Smiths, but for some reason I only see them for, at best $1,000 bucks! Can't just be where I live because I look online too. I personally prefer pinned and recessed best which jumps that price up another 200 bucks easy. I wonder where in the world people find these beautiful old guns for so cheap?? The prices I mentioned are even without box and papers! I'd be happy as can be to find a nice 19-2 through -4 for 600-800 bucks but that has been a no go for over a year! I wish I had some luck like that! Heck both of my 36's were 550 and 650 and that was a steal compared to MANY prices I see. People sell beat up ones for 800 dollars! I have recently seen 2 Model 10 snubs for 550 in mint condition without box, but that is extremely rare for me to find. Unfortunately I don't have money for that either, but usually prices for any old Smith I find are 800 and up and when I say up u mean UP!

Default For one reason or another.

The good deals will always pop up when you are not really looking for a specific gun. You have to be patient and definitely make the rounds as the good deals do not last long. This is not rocket science.

Quite honestly my most recent handgun purchase was a really clean model 19-4 4" factory Nickel gun that I picked up about six months ago for five bills out the door. I was not even looking for anything in particular, and this thing just popped up.

You just have to be in the right place at the right time. Now I have three model 19s two four inch dash fours and a 2.5 inch dash five that I got at very good prices. It happens, but sitting at home waiting for it to happen rarely produces positive results. Bring cash.

I hear ya. Problem is I'm always looking stuff up, can't really afford to buy a gun right now and I have like 20 I really want so I just keep looking and looking because the couple gun stores around me have no mint old school guns that I want pretty much ever. I'll find what I want eventually, but I am not big on patients. I'd end up spending more on a gun just to get one I want. It's just crazy that I see all the time people on here that find amazing deals. I'm happy for them, but I'd like to get in on the nice deals once in a while!

I bought a 19-4 from Gander Mountain awhile back.TH,TT. Got a really good deal on it.Paid $431 OTD .They seem to disregard value in blued guns, and it had rubber grips on it,so it dropped it even more.

I'd say a "friend price" for a 19-5 in good shape,maybe $500-$600.
