Default Which beauty do I keep??

After 36 years in business I finally managed to convince my father to renovate the family restaurant. I’m putting as much cash as I can to help fund the project. I just sold a beautiful 3.5 inch model 27 and need to sell a few more guns. I need help choosing which of these I’ll be keeping. I have a gorgeous factory fired only 627-3, a Like new Jovino 629 and Nighthawk custom. The nighthawk I’ll most likely sell because I can always pick up another down the line, but the trigger on this one is incredible, best I’ve felt on a 1911. But I’m having a tough time choosing between the pre-lock 627 and Jovino 629 because they are pretty rare. Took me a long time to find this 627-3. I also don’t reload 44 magnum but love shooting the round. Its a very expensive round so I don’t shoot often. Which do you fine folks think I should hold onto all things considered? Scarcity, collector value and cool factor?

Thanks
Ish

Me personally, I’d keep the 629 Jovino.

Keep the Revolvers, sell the Semi...not even close. Those two revolvers are exceptionally nice, no way would I let them go.

O yeah. I got another one. It’s an effector but without the original box. I think I’m leaning Jovino as well for the coolness factor but don’t know how the price will appreciate compared to the 627. I buy revolvers to enjoy and pass on to my kids. I think these crazy liberals will soon ban semi autos in NJ so revolvers I think will be safe.

Perhaps keep them both and put some personal labor into the renovation to keep the cost down ( by the price of a nice revolver!)?

p.s let the nighthawk fly!

Good suggestion. We bought three new refrigerators which were ten grand and we tiled the dining room and bathrooms ourselves, everything else I think we’d need a contractor. We’re replacing the store front and getting custom benched seating so we need to pull permits with a contractor.

My bet is that the PM messages with offers for the Jovino will outnumber offers for the 627

Both very nice guns but I would keep the Jovina if I could only keep one.

Sell the Nighthawk it has the highest value. And it isn't a S & W.

Keep the guns, that's not much money for remodeling. We just put in 30k+ into remodeling the house to sell and that amount doesn't go far, plus you won't get anything near that amount even if you sold them all, firearms are way down.

Selling a couple guns will only add a few drops in the bucket of money you'll need for construction.

I agree with a couple here.In the long run the money you'd get for either one won't go far for a restaurant renovation.I'd say keep them both since both are relatively rare .

Sell the semi-automatic pistol keep the revolvers.

If you have any extra empty .44 magnum brass sell it to someone who reloads that caliber.

If keeping them both is not an option, I would keep the 629 Jovino for sure!

So I decided to sell the 627-3. Also sold an S serial 3.5 inch 27-2, another 3.5 inch 27-2 and a 4 inch 27-2. Kept the Jovinos. O yeah selling the nighthawk too. I've got plenty of other nice guns in the collection so it's all good. I'll track down another 627-3 in the future. Right now going to fix the restaurant. Just completed phase 1 of the renovation. It's looking great. Phase two of the renovation starts in two months. I handled a 66-4 f comp. I think that's going to replace the 627-3 in the near future. I got plenty of N frames, I need some sexy K frames in my life. K frames feel so damn good.

John Jovino owned the Jovino gun shop in Manhattan of all places. He was a distributor for Smith and Wesson. Some time during the 80's his shop began chopping down long barreled guns to just under 3 inches, tuning the action and adding some other very nice features. I don't think Jovino ever did the work himself, his employees did the work, but I could be wrong. I just love the way they look and the slick action on them.

Default Where’s the Restaurant?

At least one NJ S&W fan would like to visit and say hello. Sell the Nighthawk then the 627s. If 44 price is a problem Lee Loaders work fine for a days shooting
