Cool 642

hello...I am still confused even with all the searches I have made. Can someone please tell me for sure if my alloy 642 can use +p ammo? On the barrel (all 1 3/4" of it), says: 38 s&w spl. Thats all.spec ord is 8026 which I believe to be Oct 26 1998. Any thoughts? oh, trademark and airweight are on the right side not the left. barrel stamps on left. Thanks.

I was told by S&W Customer Service to go by the markings on the barrel. If it designates "+P" on the barrel, then it's ok to use that ammo in the gun.

My 642 is a 642-2. On the left side of the barrel it says Smith & Wesson on the top line. Then on the second line it says 38 S&W Spl.+P
