How would S&W tighten up the cylinder gap?
Just curious how they would tighten the gap on the Model 69 with the sleeved barrel. Would they over torque it to get the extra material needed to tighten gap or just remove it and replace with a new barrel liner?

I don't know how they would do it, I would just face off a few thou. from the front flange so the sleeve could go back further.

They can't "over torque" it, it is a tensioned barrel assembly and already torqued way up there.
If one were out of spec and needed adjustment, probably the easiest way would be to mill a .001 or more off the shroud.
That would close the gap up once the firearm was reassembled.

Yes - the Shoulder or Flange would have to be turned down so the barrel makes a full turn farther in and then be turned down inside the Frame with a special cutter to give proper B/C Gap.
As you replied above, that 's the way you (and I as well) would do it, but S&W might just try new barrels until they found one that fit better - who knows. Other than their Custom Shop - I don't know if they even have a Lathe that still works -

If I understand correctly, the sleeve is independent of the shroud, so would not need to be turned a full turn, just whatever few thou. needed to close the gap some.
