Default N Frame Grips, What Are These?

Recently purchase a bundle of revolver grips from a forum member. This set of magna style N frame square butt grips was in that bundle. Trying to figure out what they might be made of. At first I thought India Plastic Fantastic but after getting them cleaned up I don't quite know what they are. They are heavy, weighing almost a much as a set of N frame targets. Machine engraved, stained or painted and then polished. What makes no sense... looking and the butt end it appears as though there are growth rings??? Can anyone offer any insight, it will be appreciated.

Those are Eagle grips, made in India. AJE refers to "Art Jewel Enterprises," a moniker that they used. Probably older ones from the 1970's or 80's. The growth rings suggest that they might be Indian rosewood, which can be almost black in color and is quite dense, I believe.

This makes sense. Photo 5 shows the chip out of the left panel. It exposes what looks like wood?

Edit to add: So the white base color on the inside panels is probably a primer?

Another vote for buffalo horn. The creamy white is natural occurring in horn. I have sets for N and J frame.
