Default Info Requested on (New?) 60-15 SKU 12489

Here in CA, we have a roster of handguns that have been deemed safe for us to own. If they aren't on the roster, they can not be purchased new in CA. Since 1-1-01, virtually no new pistols have been added to the roster, but luckily S&W has been good about jumping thro the hoops required to get new revolvers on the roster.

As a long time S&W revolver shooter, anytime a new Smith comes on the roster is cause for excitement. On 7-12-18 a new revolver was added that peaked my interest, but I haven't been able to find any information on it. The only description I have is the limited entry on our roster: "60-15 (S&W Logo Grip) (NRA Engraved) SKU 12489, Stainless Steel, 3" Revolver, 357 magnum."

By the time they make the roster, a revolver may have been on the market to the rest of the country for several years. So, altho this gun is new to CA, it may not be new to you all.

Does anyone have information on this gun? The roster also has listed the regular 60-15 SKU 162430 - 3" model, so obviously this is different. My regular 60-15 and 60 Pro are two of my favorites. I would love to add the new one to the collection.

I searched everywhere I could think of and had no luck with SKU# 12489. Hopefully someone with better search skills will do better.

That is most likely one of the firearms that Smith and Wesson produces for the Friends of the NRA

If so, It will only be offered at a Friends of the NRA event or directly purchased from them

There are several Friends of the NRA events happening across California over the next 3 or 4 weeks.

The cost is high to approve guns for the CA roster... can't see them adding a very limited gun. But...

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll check with the NRA & the Friends of NRA, but BigggBruce is right, it's expensive to get approved for the roster. S&W doesn't usually do it for their limited edition guns, only for their most popular sellers. I'll keep looking tho.
