Need J RD Fan for Grip Tester
John has designed our new J frame grips (RB only). We have a full-sized J-round combat grip and a two finger grooved J-round boot grip. These two styles will be offered notched for models with hammers and un-notched for models without hammers. They have an enclosed backstrap only. These will not work with the "lemon-squeezer" grip safety models (model 40 and 42).
We have a few testers and are looking for one or two more that will give us honest feedback. We have a couple for model 60's so would like other models. What you will need to do is:
1. Try our grip on one of your J frame models and see how it fits. Take a few pictures showing fit and email them to us. Let us know if they fit well or if there were any fitting issues.
2. Take your J frame out to the range with our grips installed (or shooting area) and put a few rounds through it (unless they hurt) and report to us on how they felt. Were they comfortable? Did they feel natural aiming? How did they handle recoil? Were they too thin or too thick? Were the grooves comfortable or did any areas rub fingers the wrong way? Etc....
We are looking for honest feedback. In exchange for the pictures and report, you get to keep the grips. Grips will be similar to the ones in the photos.
Please post below if you are interested, and if so, what model you would like to try them on and what grip you would prefer. If you don't want to list what model you have you can send me a PM but you must state below that you are interested. Grips to choose from are:
1a. Notched Boot for models with hammers
1b. Un-notched Boot for hammerless models
2a. Notched Full-sized combat grip for models with hammer
2b. Un-notched full-sized combat grip for hammerless models
Please see the attached pictures. I was using a handheld light (orange flashlight) to try to highlight the grip but it put a weird yellow glow on the revolver.

I'd be willing to test drive a set on my M&P 340 (the notchless, boot variant), I would bet running that with magnums would provide some feedback! I currently use a DeSantis clip grip.

Model 36 and 37 pre lock, if this is part of your market. Un-knotched Boot grip for double action shooting if the revolver will function with standard hammer spur, message sent.
Thank you

Good morning....
I’d be interested as well....
While I also have 36’s and 60’s snubbies, how about if I give the notched full-sized combat grips a try on my 60-15, 3” bbl?
These would seem to be closest form factor to the OEM synthetic grips which came fitted on the gun.
Thank you for the opportunity!

My everyday carry is a model 342, so I'd be interested in an unnotched boot grip. If I am late to the party that's ok, you have created a grip that looks great.

Good morning;
I would love to provide feedback and range info for the notched full size combats. My EDC is the 637-2 with original Altamonts, the others are Model 34 and Model 36. So 22LR, 38 Special and 38 Special + P would be the impressions.
Thanks for considering us in your study.

If you still have a set available for a Model 60, I’d be honored to try out a set on my 60-4 with adjustable sights and 3” underlug barrel to test their efficacy on this “outside the box” variant. I do have a small history of doing product tests and writing reviews for this forum and others.

I suspect that I am too late to the party but, I would be privileged to test these grips if you still need someone. I have a model 640 no dash and would love to test the boot grips. Thank you for providing this opportunity to the members of this forum.

If you still need feedback from someone with a 638 s&w I would like to try the full size—let me know—thanks. (2B)

I’d be interested in an unnotched set for my no lock (internal hammer) 340PD and will be more than happy to evaluate them as you specified. I have XLG hands and have been looking for a boot grip that covers the bacstrap. Pls email me w/details at [email protected] (PM not working). Many thanks for this opportunity.

I may also be too late to the party, but I would be happy to test and evaluate either notched variety on a model 37 airweight that is old enough to not have any letters in the serial number.

Thank you for all your responses! There is no such thing as being "late" to the party. We just want a variety of models tested with our new grips to make sure they will work on all models (except grip safety models which are already excluded). I think we will choose a few testers from here since there is a nice variety of models, so keep the responses coming. Thank you!

I have vintage S&W Model 36 2" and 3" revolvers (exposed hammers) and a new 442-1 (shrouded hammer) that I have been trying with various grips.
I would be glad to test and evaluate any/all of your offerings on my guns and provide detailed written feedback after using them.
Thanks and best wishes,
Frank

I have the shrouded hammer 649 and would love to test a set of grips for you.
If you have boots that fit the 649, I would buy them now.

Hello,
Please include me in your selection process, currently I use a 640, 342, 442 in .38 Spc. and a 432 in .32 H&R Mag.
The un notched 1b Boot grip would be first choice (pocket or ankle carry).
The full Combat 2b also looks very interesting, as I also use belt and IWB holsters mostly with the 640.
BTW, I also could test on a 38-2.
Even if I don't make the cut, I would love to see the test results.

I am a long time snub nose carrier. Mine is either a 49 or 649. The grips looks outstanding and I will give you honest feedback. I have used combat grips but never boot grips. Send me whichever you prefer, if I don't make the cut please post the results. I will try them and the range so I can provide full details. Thanks very much for the kind offer.

Well, I haven't seen anyone offer to test them on a model 38 (shrouded hammer). So, maybe I could be that guinea pig ...
Nice looking grips, in any event.

If you still need someone for honest feedbacck I would be happy to test both the notched and un-notched.
I can put the notched on a Mod 60 (no dash), 431PD, 36 (no dash).
I can put the un-notched on a 432PD, 640, and 940

Call or send a set to Teddy Jacobson Actions by T he will tell it like it is LOL. Teddy told me the other day he was working on many J fames right now and was very disappointed with many of the wood boot grips. Eagle secret service was one that he does not feel they fit right but he said is very good size for pocket carry. He went on to say G10 is nice but to heavy. Give him a call since his health is some what ok he is back to work and well telling like it is but that's what I love about him. Good Luck with your new grips they look very NICE.

Well, drat! That'll teach me to be away for a few days.
Happy to see you're ready for range tests with your J-frame grips. I'd love to do comparisons with several of my favorites.
Centennial models with Karl Nill, Craig Spegel and Hogue grips.
Exposed hammer models with S&W Combats and Altamonts.

I'm thinking un-notched boot grips for a model 38 Airweight humpback. I'm actually not sure if the notch is required or not for this model. However ,I would be happy to try out whichever set you think would work best. I'm currently running the factory RB magnas. Thank you for your consideration.

I would love to try 2B if you are still looking for testers.I have a 642 and prefer a full grip to boot grips. Big gorilla hands.

If I'm not too late, I have a blue and a nickel 49, a 649, a pair of 640s and a 3" 60-10 with adjustable sights that all would benefit from some new booties of either style. Thanks!!!

I have a M&P 340 that I carry daily and shoot a few times a month. I put the Ahrends boot grip on when new. That grip fits the frame perfect and is great feeling. It will be hard to beat, but I would be willing to compare. The review would be unbiased and I have plenty of friends that would be more than willing to offer input.

I'm guessing you have more than enough testers already, but just incase.... I'd like to try the un-notched boot on my 642. It would also work on my 640. If by any chance you have enough hammerless testers and need a hammer guy, I could try then un-notched boot grip on my 360J. Thanks

This is going to take me a bit to sort through and I have been short on time. I should be contacting people next week. I only have 4 grips right now but hopefully will have a few more in a couple weeks.
Thank you!

We sent out 10 tester grips to 7 people. Some people got two grips if they were an active firearm instructor or FFL dealer with several different models to test. The J grip has been the most difficult to design because there is a lot of fame size variance in the various models. We appreciate everyone's interest in being a tester!

I'm always interested in new designs for the Centennials (no notch). Please keep us posted on the progress.
p.s. Consider offering some form of checkering as smooth grips rarely provide enough "grip" for the small, high recoiling guns.
