Default Shiny Snubbie - 686-3

Just received this shiny 2.5” 686-3 from forum member, johnsonl. The polished finish is well executed.

Very nice. I think the 686 is the best and best looking of all the 357 snubbies.

That is very nice! I like the dash 3 with the silver controls. It looks very clean.

Those are fun shooting little guns! Mine stays in the nightstand by the bed! You reminded me it needs to go the range sometime soon!

Such gorgeous guns! Nicely done!

This is mine - did they actually come with these fancy stocks?

Oh, I keep a 3" next to my bed at night. My 4" 686 is a safe queen usually, unless I ever go hunting again.

Your stocks are ACE stocks, a company, I believe, that was owned by Smith. IIRC, they produced stocks for some of the late 90s models, but not the 686. If I am wrong, someone will be along shortly to correct me.

Mine is wearing the original factory combats that are found on the -3 and earlier. The -4 came with synthetic grips from Hogue.

I have a 6 inch 686 that I don’t love like I did 30+ years ago.

It’s after hours, so I can’t call. Do you think S&W would put a 3 inch barrel on that gun for me?

Possible, since they still make 3” 686s. However, the roll marks will be larger and a different font. Or you can check on eBay or Numrich for a 3” take off.

Hmmm....I THINK that I bought that 686+ in the very late 1980s. I recall paying $350 for it. It could have been a few years later, I suppose; it's been with me a long time so recollection of the date of acquisition is dim!.
