Default Date of Manufacture for a model 649
I am interested if anybody can give me a date of manufacture for a S&W model 649 revolver with the serial number AYP1602.

Thanks for any help you can offer me.

It is likely from the fall of 1987; others here can probably get to a specific month, or if you have the original box we can tell you exactly.

July to/through December 1987, but possibly as late as Jan 1988.
