Model 29-3
I just bought a S&W Model 29-3 with serial number AFVxxxx and the gun came in original box with all original paper work and even has the cleaning kit in it. The gun looks like it has never been fired. My question is: how much value will it loose if I decide to fire it? I hate for a gun to just sit and not be used but I feel this one is a different story.
Any input would be helpful.
Also what is a gun like this worth?

I have some I haven't shot yet, probably will someday, just have too many guns and not enough range time. I do not want to be leaving my guns to my heirs to fire.

Well, I certainly understand not enough range time, BUT the statement too many guns.............I have to take issue with that. I did not know there was such a thing. Sounds sacrilegious!
Kidding of course

Without any more information, I would guess about 700 - 950. That's from the 4th ed. of the S&W Catalog - Very Good to As New In The Box.

If it is a nice piece NIB with no factory flaws I would leave it that way. With the model 29-3 you might find out some things you don't like by firing it. I know I did with mine.

I bought my 29-3 last November. My 1st 44 Magnum gun. I could not imagine not shooting it. It is quite a pleasure with hand loaded maximum 44 Special data in magnum cases. No box or extras came with mine. Bob
