New to me beat up Model 13
Found this well-worn 3" Model 13-3 at the LGS the other day. Lotsa blue gone and dirty as all get out. Shelled out $325.
Cleaned it up and put on a Tyler adapter. Wood stocks came on it. Doesn't look like much but if it shoots I believe I'll make it the house gun.
Dates to 1982 according to my Smith book.

You did well. 3" K-frames are hard to come by and generally pretty expensive. A bit of finish wear saved you a lot of money on a really great gun.

That's a workin gun, and I love it! While I have several 3" J frames, I just this afternoon purchased my first 3" K, a nickel 13-3 here on the forum that I'm pretty pumped about. Enjoy yours!

What a great snag. You cant get a mod-36 for $325. A great carry gun with a lot of authority.

Good buy. That one looks like maybe it spent some time under the seat of the pickup truck. Gives it character.

Its great that the price matched the condition. When I see something in that condition, as long as its mechanically sound its a perfect carry/range gun. I would have snatched it up just as you did!

You're right. In the old days I would have been tempted to have it re-blued but then I would have been hesitant to carry or shoot the thing for fear of scratching it up.
It was a shooter and I'll keep it as a shooter!

Nice buy. I've definitely bought pieces in worse condition. Looks used but not abused...

Only? That is awesome. IMHO, that's like one fo the best guns you could have. .38 plus p's are nothing to sneeze at for a serious gun.

I've started to appreciate guns that show some wear. Good deal on your part assuming it is mechanically tight.

Congrats on a great deal. I would've grabbed that gun in a heartbeat. You can't beat a 3" K frame.

Great deal on a great gun. My avatar is the stainless version (M65) and it is probably the last one I'd let go of.
$325 is a fantastic price for a mechanically sound 3" k-frame - even if it is a little "finish challenged".

New to me Model 13-3"
Got to the range finally, where the old revolver functioned 100%. Fired every round, from powder puff .38 reloads (mine) to .357 magnums. I must confess to putting on some rubber grips for the magnums. With those Uncle Mike's, magnum rounds were no problem really. Maybe a little noisy.
Anyway, couldn't ask for more from an almost 40-year old revolver. I'm highly pleased.

I wouldn't have been able to sleep if I had left something like that behind, at that price. You did real well I think. I enjoy shooting my guns, and ones like that, are perfect for a shooter. Congratulations!

No one loves a 3” K Frame more than I do and I’ve been fortunate to find a few really nice ones, but this Model 10 from 1959 I found recently has fast become one of my favorites. Really slick action and still locks up like a vault. Shoots great. Just enough honest wear to give it the right amount of character. The blue wear at the muzzle and on front of the cylinder sure points to being carried a lot. Supposedly was a cops gun but no proof was offered. Sure wish there was a way to make these old babies talk. I’m much like federali, starting to really appreciate guns tha show some honest wear.
