Default 629-5 Power Port Range Report

I had my RO bench rest and zero her with the Nikon Tactical Spur. He tested two of my loads:

The RO did a good job zeroing the red dot in. How'd it shoot for you?? What's your take on the gun?

I love the gun but still getting used to the 44. Need more range time! It is in great condition! Hoping someone can recommend a cheap holster for woods carry. Thanks for all your guidance & suggestions!

Rember, just because it handles up to 40kpsi doesn't mean you need to load it up there. That gun is easily 2 straight hours of fun with an ammo can of 200gr rounds going 900ish fps. Im a big fan of the 29/629 running .44 bunny fart loads for gallary enjoyment

I understand. Just not a fan of those light loads at this time.

How do you like the Spur? I really like the Spur on my wife's 686.

Have fun with that critter.

Black Hills Cowboy Action Ammo 44 Russian 210 Grain - MPN: DCB44RUSN1

kwesi... Get some of these 44Russian CowBoy loads from Midway..

210gr, 650fps ... Gentle and about like shooting 38wc.. Work up to a

more potent load after getting comfortable with these.. They shoot fine..

A bit shorter than 44magnum and a LOT LESS recoil..

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive hip holster like Uncle Mike's that will also fit the Spur?

Awesome mount! I'm still getting used to drawing and having the red dot in the center focus but I really like the Spur.

I'm not aware of any cheap custom holsters. You may have to modify an Uncle Mike's yourself. Diamond D makes a really nice leather chest holster and may work with you to allow for the red dot but they aren't "cheap".

I wasn’t referring to a custom holster but was hoping someone like Uncle Mikes made one for red dots. I was hoping not to have to spend $100+. I’ve also never worn a chest holster in the woods. Hip and thigh.

Update: I got thru to UM’s tech. They do not make anything specific for a scope or RD. He said #3 is the correct size for the 6.5”. It might be possible to modify it to fit. Hoping Im not the first member to try this. Anyone?

I've used Uncle Mike's chest rigs for scoped hunting revolvers for a long time, well over a decade some of them. (For use after bagging game or traversing difficult terrain, etc.) I forget the number of the holster, will have to dig some out. There's at least two different lengths that have been produced. Quite handy, and able to be worn in a variety of ways.

ETA: They might be a tad large for your reddot, but it's easy enough to either sew it up some with a heavy gage needle and thread or poke some holes in it and use some black nylon tie wraps, etc. to remove excess slack. The deer won't care what it looks like.
