629-4 3in. Price check...
Excellent 629-4 3 inch round butt approx. 1994 special order "Backpacker" with Pachmayr Compac grips, finish and mechanics excellent. Pre-MIM and Pre-lock, no box, no papers, no tools.
Saw a few GB sales in the $1,000 area.
Anyone have any recent price experience?
Thanks.

Not sure what to tell you.
But I have two of the blued versions. I would not let either one of mine go for less than a grand.

I'd pay 8-$900 for one advertised to be in good shape. For a $1000 I want to hold it in my hands first. I've been wanting one for a while

Prices tend to trend in either direction. $1200 is not uncommon depending on the demand. I paid slightly under that for my 629-5 3" w/ full underlug, unfluted cylinder, Ahrend grips, and a S&W PC action job w/ magnaporting. Suggest you monitor gunbroker and see what similar firearms are selling for. There's what looks to be a 629-5 3" listed as a special edition in original box with paperwork, lock and speedloader. Starting bid at $950. I'd be surprised if someone didn't snag it up for that price or the bid went higher.

I have 3 629-4 3" Two Backpacker with complete matching number box and docs and the original S&W Hogue grips, I paid $1200 for each of them, and another Backpacker with no box or docs, but does have the Original S&W Hogue grips, I paid $850 for.

Condition. Condition. Condition.
If NIB or LNIB could be anywhere from $ 1,200-$ 1,500 or more depending on the variant.
If used and shot, but in good shape I would think $800 - $ 850. But that's just my opinion and local market.

To answer your question in few words: "A lot!" And the opening bid on GB is $1,000... If you stay around till the end of the auction they are closer to $1500. I know because I got into (2) bidding wars on 3 different M24 Lew Horton Specials with the 3" barrel in the last 3 months. Finally, I said I'd rather have the Lew Horton Special M29-3 in .44Mag/Special with the thicker 3" barrel that I can shoot both Specials and Magnums... Of course it came with the S&W Historical Letter verifying the revo is indeed a LHS. At the end of the bid on that one I got into an (almost) "Sniping" bidding war situation and spent even more than $1500 to win; and have number 3 of 5, of my must have firearms in life. To me, its certainly worth the coin. That is what you have to decide. Good luck and post pics when you get one!
I love the below pictured 3" M629 "Deluxe"... But the differences between it and the LHS M29's in the action/trigger, timing of the cylinder, balance, Goncalo Alves Combat Grips (they go $200 sometimes $275 easily by themselves), and accuracy are not subtle. I'm set on my favorite 2 .44Mags/Specials with these 2 models though.

Reason: ETA: Mistakedly thought you wrote M24 LHS revo's initially. But it's moot since the M24 and M29 LHS go for same $ on GB.

Oh and you have the lovely unfluted cylinder option too! Beautiful man. Heck I'd give you 1K today for the one with the Altamont/combat grips if you were interested in selling!
