Question "J" Frame Value Help

First, thank you fellow Forum members. I've been able to sell quite a few of my guns with your help. I have two "J" frame guns I need to put a value on. I bought both of these guns NIB when they first came out, never did anything with them, except put them in my safe, and switch out the rubber grips (which I still have in their original boxes). The Model 940 has numerous full moon clip I bought for it as well. The Model 317 is an 8 shot version 22 LR.

Well the Spegel grips look to be Macassar Ebony so they are worth at least $100... which is the price of new ones w/out the year or more wait!!!

I think the 940 being like new in the box, and I assume you still have the box, etc..., I would go around 700 minimum.

I have noticed that on the major auction site it seems that the price of the 940 has crept back up again so if going to auction you might start it around 700.00 or so. Of course those don't seem to be getting many bid but the ones started lower seem to creep up that high.

That is minus the Spegal grips of course and with the original UM Boots back on.

I got lucky a few years ago and picked one up, with the box from a different one (don't know how that happens) for around 550.00 all in.

I am no expert though by any means. Just looking at what seems to be going on right now.

Oh mercy!

Now you've got me wanting a 940, to go with my 640, and the 317 as well.
