Default Smith 629-5 Extreme Hunter 12” Wilson Combat Rear Sight

Hello All,

I recently purchased a 629-5 Extreme Hunter 12”, one of the Lew Horton runs of a little over 200.

Problem is she is missing her original Wilson combat Long Range Silhouette Rear Sight. Anyone have any idea where I can pick up another one, or something that would suffice?

If you have one you would like to sell, I would happily pay a healthy price for it.

Much appreciated!

I'd call Lew Horton Distributors first. It's a long shot buy maybe try calling Smith & Wesson up if no go with LHS... Even a longer shot... try calling Numrich!

LHS was really helpful identifying a GB listing that I had interest in and bid upon that was claimed to be a Lew Horton Special Model 24 with a 3" barrel... Turns out, the seller lied. So naturally I call LHS before bidding on a LHS M29 with a 3" barrel. They were great again and took time with me and even told me how to get an authentication letter from Smith & Wesson's research department; of which I gladly did. So try calling up LHS first. Good luck, nice piece sounds like. Buy you broke the cardinal rule... No pics???

Default Extreme

Congrats! I have one too. I looked at it also, but the lack of the rear sight scared me off. Did not have the strap either. Both will be hard to find. Call Lew Horton and get the letter from them. Total production was 416 units. Here is a portion of my letter.

Nathan:
This thread which is, strangely enough, appearing simultaneously with yours contains the answer...

Help- Rear Sight Questions

I believe that is the rear sight which you seek and the text reveals that to be made by Bomar - I'm sure that Wilson just rebranded it. Unfortunately, Bomar is no more, so your only option is to try and source the sight in the secondary market.

You might see if IHMSA has a house organ and advertise in that. Good luck in your quest.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

I think you have solved it! That Bomar looks just like the Wilson Combat on my 629-5 EXTREME. Thank you Pizza Bob!
