What are “flat sided N frame combats” ?

Original S&W N frame combat grips like these ? Or something different (not familiar with the “flat”).

Just for the record, there are 'Flat Side' Combats that do not have medallions. According to some informative members, those were original to several Performance Center N-Frames, and are much more scarce.

I've seen the standard Combats go for almost $300... and if the flat sided one's are much more rare... then I don't even want to know what they will run you OP!

The flat sided combats with no medallions were the last of the breed and came with 629-5 revolvers (DX and performance center 629 revolvers).

I would not consider the no medallion grips more valuable simply because there were fewer of them manufactured

Mine are referred to in the Roy Jinks letter as Goncalo Alve's "Combat Magnums"... I've seen them go for almost $300 and those weren't quite as nice as the ones mine came with. I'm swapping mine out for some stock Magna's and a BK grip. I won't be selling mine because with that letter they add quite a bit more value (not that I'll be selling my Lew Horton Smith anyways).
