Default 629 MG info needed

Just like to know if anyone can tell me what grips originally came on a 629-2 mountain gun? I'm looking at one wearing Pach grippers at a LGS at a pretty good price. Typical of the bead blast finished guns, a few smooth spots from holster cary, but not shot much, hardly a mark on the recoil shield.
Thanks

They came with Pachs. Unsure of the exact type.

Grippers sound right, later ones came with Hogue.

The 629-2 is actually the “Mountain Revolver,” father of the Mountain Gun. They came with Pachmayr Grippers. Here’s mine as it came from the factory.

That's a very good, practical grip. I use it on my Ruger GP-100.

A friend had Herrett's Jordan Trooper on his M-29, and it did cut recoil effect with full .44 Magnum loads. The gun was back on target faster than when I used my M-29, which had S&W smooth rosewood Cokes.

However, the Jordan grip does need a big hand. My hand worked with Jordan's own guns, but Herrett's will make them smaller, to your hand size. Those on my friend's gun fit me better than those on Bill's guns. He had huge hands, in keeping with his height.

If you've seen pictures of Bill Jordan, you know what I mean about his size. A quarter looked like a nickel on his hand.

Mine has modified K frame Pachs on it. I think that is how the early ones came from the factory.
