642-1 Police surplus..what PD
Just bought a 642-1 from Quantico arms, curious to know what PD surplused them out. The S/N prefix is CDF 44xx.
Any ideas other than get a letter?

Welcome! I would ask the seller, or at least tell us if it is stamped with a department marking .

Idea... but zero proof... These guys would not want to advertise they were being responsible stewards of the government funds by recycling firearms.

If your budget can spare the extra $20:
LEO Trade-In Smith & Wesson M&P40 .40 S&W Handgun

Hi sir - did you mean to say Quantico Tactical - in Woodbridge? Not to criticize but the frame on your 642 has seen better days. I guess as long as it was reasonable and the cylinder and action aren't loosey-goosey ... then it was a good deal. Well, actually, I understand my opinion doesn't matter here - you're happy with it or you wouldn't have bought it! That said, I found this 442 in as-new condition on VA gun trader for $325 with the wood grips. The Beretta just happens to be in the photo ...

The right side frame has a significant amount of corrosion/wear, but the left side is like new. Locks up tight, and the cylinder/barrel are spotless. Quantico Tactical had three grades available, this was the lowest.
I like surplus police guns. I have a surplus NC DOC Mod 10, as well as a 4043, and a ex Australian Mod 10. I wish I could have bought back my 1086, but I was a poor cop at the time with two small kids in the 90's...
