3” K frames. Mmmmmm. Let’s see some.
While I have a number of 3” J frames, this 13-3 is my first 3” K frame (I have a bunch of 2”ers). After shooting a few of them, I was really looking hard for one of my own. Bought this off a forum member (thanks Mike) but won’t have it for a week or so. Can. Not. Wait.
Let’s see some more of them!

2 Custom (originally 4 inch barrels) Model 64's by Throne Arms
Model 64
Model 10 RB (that was dull blued by a local gunsmith)
Model 10 SQ
Better picture of the Throne 64's

Be very careful. They can multiply quickly. I bought all of these in 2017.
Left column (top to bottom): 66-2, 66-2, 65-5 (Hunter Smith)
Center: 10 (no dash, 4 screw), 10-7, 10-8, 36-1
Right: 13-2, 13-3, 65-5

3” K Frames are very awesome! I am lucky to have two, I also have a 3” L Frame , a CS-1
My nickel 3” M13-3, I lucked into it on a GB auction when I wasn’t really looking, nobody else was either
My M64-3 that I bought at my old LGS, he had a group of local police department trade in M64’s and M65’s. This was the only 3” M64 in the group, there was one 3” M65 that I should have gotten as well. I picked this up about 15 years ago when revolvers were cheap.
And my 3” CS-1 that I picked up in the mid 90’s when nobody knew what they were.

There has been a lot of discussion here lately about 2.5" Model 19's and Model 66's but frankly I'd rather have a Model 13 or 65 with a 3" barrel. Although those guns are no longer cheap either. For that matter, a 3" Model 10 stoked with Buffalo Bore 158 gr. LSWCHP's would be an outstanding self defense revolver. Since well all like photos here are a pair I call salt & pepper

Mine started out as a 4" M-65 with a square butt. I had some work done on it to convert it to a 3" round butt:

I was rushing out the door when I posted these.
It's a 10-5 Aussie Police trade-in, came with Pacmeyer Compacts, thought the diamond Magnas and Tyler T would add to it's character. I have a Lobo offset IWB, Lobo pancake and an old Bianchi #7 for it.

Here's what I have: a Model 65-3 with slightly modified Ahrends retro-combat grips and a Bianchi (Cyclone 111?) holster that can be used strong side or weak side cross draw.
No pinned barrel, recessed chambers, original grips, papers, box, tools, etc., and none needed.

I only have one, a square butt Model 10 that was one of the two Australian reimports I bought a few years ago. The other, as you can see is a 4” round butt.

I wanna hit like on everyone's pics....
Got a question though... Did they ever make a 3" tapered barrel? I can't tell if JimmyJones's and the pic above my post are. They kind of look like it but I wasn't expecting that kind of a front sight.....

ABPOS, the 3" taper barrel guns are a medium taper. They do not go down in diameter as dramatically as the 4" and longer guns. The Australian import guns and the two square butt model 10's in my post above have this heavier taper.

I'm assuming that means there weren't any pre model 10
's with a 3" tapered barrel? Or M&Ps? The heavier profile didn't come out until what, 1957-60? Somewhere around then.

No, I have seen at least two 3" pre-10s posted here on the forum. My model 10 letters to July 1959. Another forum member has previously posted about his non-model marked 3" that shipped the week before mine.
The thread link below provides some great info and shows the difference between the heavy barrel and the tapered 3".
Informal Case Study on the 3” barrel M&P/ Model 10 variants…

I'm currently looking at a Model 64-5 in great shape, no box. Anyone have a ballpark idea of the value? Gunbroker is so unpredictable and inflated sometimes.

Is this a 64-5 3 inch or 4 inch? I would probably pay $600 at the most either way. One with a forged hammer and trigger would be ideal. My 64-5 has a forged DAO hammer and a MIM trigger.

The model 64's are often police turn-ins. I believe this impacts on their value. In the last 2 years I have picked up two 64's. One was $300, the other was like $250. Both from Adventure Outdoors in Smyrna, GA. They have bunches of these from $350 down.
Here's one..64-3
Actually it was $238

That's not a 3" though. But it's a beautiful gun. And what stocks are those? I like them.

Thanks for the kind words. No, that one isn't a 3" but the one in post #26 started out as a 4" Mod 64 that I turned into a 3".
Those faux ivory grips are from Thailand. Believe seller was Doxicon-Nomix. Those were very heavily modified as they were way too bulky for my liking. Added medallions also.

That is impressive to say the least. The blued "K" with the Magna's and the Tyler-T... that one is just pure bliss! I bet that is an absolute joy to shoot. I've found that Magna's with a Tyler-T grip even tames the recoil in a 1 7/8" "J" frame loaded with hot boutique +P's! That combo just works for me so much I'm thinking of going to Magna's and a Tyler-T on my 3" barreled M29 and putting the "Combats" in the box!

Agreed. If I had to choose just one grip set-up for all my 2"-4" Smiths, it would be the Tyler / Magna.

Agreed! I'm in the process of setting my "N" frames up like my "J" frames.
The Magna/Tyler-T combo adds superior grip yet keeps the same concealability as the stock Magna's. Any other kind of grip and you lose concealment. For me... the Magna/Tyler-T grip is one of the few instances in life where you eat your cake and have it too!

Wow, look at that pair of blued steel beauties! I'd love to have the 19-5 snubbie!

A couple pics of my 3” 67
And a 3” 64 I gave my dad for his birthday a few years ago. It’s a California Youth Authority gun.

65-5 Lady Smith. I polished it and removed the LS logo.
