Unfired 1985 S&W 66-2 revolver picture
Here is the picture of a unfired model 66-2 I purchased from my neighbor few weeks ago. He purchased it in 1985 from LGS. It's in pristine condition and still has the original box and manual/papers.
Sorry for the poor quality of picture but it's the best I could do with my phone camera.

Nice.... and not so rare as to be collectible vs a shooter

I'm going to keep this one as-is and give it to my grand kid one day in future unfired.
For shooting enjoyment I have this 66-2 that I enjoy frequently...

Shoot the gun. I'd rather my grandkid say, "Here's the gun my grandpa SHOT." It's not a 1 of 100 collectible. Enjoy it.

The grandkid will surely enjoy shooting a gun you would not allow yourself to shoot...

I have a 1943 Victory.38 Spl that will belong to my Grandson.
I shoot it occasionally so he can describe any way he likes.
That 19 you just bought is a gem. Good luck not shooting it.

Nice new acquisition. And my first thought when folks were saying to shoot it and pass on a grandpa's gun to your grand kid I was agreeing. But then it occurred to me, you did not mention if your grand kid was alive yet or a future hoped for grand kid. If he/she is alive and old enough to shoot then go shooting with the kid with that gun as often as you can. Then the memories of shooting with grandpa and his purdy six shooter will be vivid and beloved someday.
Or if the grand kid isn't on this Earth yet then wait for him/her to be born and grow up to shooting age and then go shooting as often as possible with him/her with that and other guns for oodles of good memories and fun for you too.
Now, if the grand kid isn't born you have a darned nice shooter 66-2 so you are already prepared for TWINS!
Either way, nice new addition to the stable and thanks for the pic.

shoot it and when your grandson is old enough take him with you and show.. teach him how to shoot it. When he receives it after your gone the memories will be with him his whole life.
That, IMHO, is worth more than a gun in the box with no history.

And on the other hand, it's already been fired at least three rounds-----which didn't seem to hurt it much.

Too nice. I've been kinda looking for a 4" 66-2 to go with my 2.5" and 3"...both of them are -2.
