I am trying to determine when this revolver was manufactured and who distributed.
Serial Number BEE0822. Every resource stops at BED. Any help appreciated

According to the 4th ed. of the S&W Catalog (pg. 491), the BEE prefix was used in 1990.

Thanks, Ed. I am trying to determine worth, do you have any idea? Checked gunbroker but don't find anything comparable due to barrel length.

Look around here at the ones that have sold in the last couple of years. It would not surprise me to see values closer to $1500 than $1200. The 3" does a lot of things well, and it is somewhere between "uncommon" and "rare", probably a lot closer to "rare". They have the round butt, which is generally better for carry, and the 3" barrel allows for a longer ejector rod, meaning a full length stroke that ensures getting empties out with greater reliability than the 2.5" barrel.
I would not buy one, not because it is not worth what people want, but because the value of it to me is not worth what the value to the market is. Not a slam on the revolver or those who value it ... just that I have other things I need worse for the money.

That helps. Had the gun for a long time, just beginning to look at the history of the Model 66. On a different subject, a family member wanted to see if I was interested in buying a Model 65-2 in very good condition. It has a 4 inch barrel, stainless with the square wood grip (sorry if I have the terminology wrong on this). They are asking $800 to $1000 which seems very high. Everything I see is $400 to $600 range. Waiting for them to send me the serial number. Any thoughts? It is a family gun and I would like to keep it in the family but not at a premium.

Welcome! You have the standard price range for a model 65-2 4" square butt; perhaps with the original box and contents it would sell at the high end of the numbers you mentioned.
We'd like to see photos of that model 66, by the way. Hope this is helpful.

3 inch round butt 65s and 66s are about the best concealed carry revolver going IMO.
I got my 3" 66s back in the late 80s.... dealers couldn't give them away in the age of the "Wonder-9".
