Question Model 65-2 DOB 7D59044

Can anyone provide me the date of birth of this revolver? It is a stainless with 4 inch barrel and wood square butt. Someone told my nephew it was worth $800 to $1000 but when I check it out I see $400 to $600 and it doesn't have a box. It is in good condition and is pinned and recessed. Any thoughts?

It looks to be a 1981 gun and has not changed in value from when you asked about it 2 days ago.

Why does the value swing from $400 to $1000 is my question. Thank you for clarifying the year for me

The answer might be in the "someone" who mentioned 800-1000 for that revolver might be off quite a bit. Those go for 400-600 around me.

Thanks. I have called around and that is what they are telling me depending on if they have original box and papers.

Have a look at gunbroker.com (you need to register but that is easy), go to Advanced near the Search link at the top of the page, click on Completed Items, type S & W or Smith model 65, select Firearms then a time frame of the search under Show Items (30 days is maximum) and look for items that have 'sold'. As with your relative, asking prices are interesting but you want to know how much buyers are really paying for an item.
