686-4 Barrel Availability
I recently bought a 686-4 Power Port with a small ring in the bore. I would like to have it re-barreled with a 4" barrel. Does anyone know if S&W has barrels available?
Here's a picture of this problem child.

If they don’t, EBay does.

You could try Numrich Arms, I was looking the other day for a 686-4 hammer and did see some barrels listed. Also another site is Everygunpart.com, they have de-milled firearms but as others have said the prices are high.

How does it shoot? If it is accurate perhaps leave it alone?
You will have trouble finding a replacement 6" Power Port barrel but any 686 barrel should fit, I think. A 686-6 part will have "Smith & Wesson" on the right and "S & W .357 Magnum" on the left, any earlier one will be stamped like yours.

Any L-frame barrel would fit. I does not have to be specifically a -4 barrel. As long as it's not a 2-piece barrel or something unusual. You might be able to find a de-milled parts kit gun. I saw some on Gun Broker a while back and they were inexpensive. The frames were cut but the barrels were not damaged. You'd get all the internal components and screws for spare parts, too.

I would suggest trying to find an identical barrel and keeping the configuration the way it is. Pow-r-ports aren't seriously rare but they are far less common than a 4 inch 686 would be. And it gives you an excuse to buy another gun..lol
