686+ vs P365
I know there's apples and oranges here. Might even be the wrong forum.
Bought two SIG P365s for whatever reasons. Took them to the range today along with my frequently carried 686+ 3". Can you guess which targets are which?

Were you shooting .38 Special wadcutters through the 686+ ? The holes in the target sure look like wadcutters.
If that's the case, there is nothing whatsoever fair or comparable in this showdown, but it's still fun.

Yeah, obviously, the far right.
All at 30 feet.
Standard 115 JHP for the 9mm. Each P365 has over 500 rounds thru them. I had hoped they would get better.
Plated DEWC with a 95% fill load of Trail Boss in 357 cases for the 686+.
I don't care what loads, there shouldn't be that much difference. I'm sticking with the 686+.

Me too, I'll stick with my 586-7 and 686-6, my twins. (sorry, I was dying to use this photo)

The only polymer ones that I could shoot good are the glocks and XD's. I bet you would shoot them good.
For some reason I really couldn't shoot my sig very well. But I did own a p232 that I could shoot very well, but that's a 9mm kurz. Different design.
My p226 showed a similar pattern. ..

Yeah, powder puff wadcutter loads against standard power ball isn't really a valid comparison. You ought to be shooting your carry loads in the 686 against the SIGs.
FWIW, I've found my 9mm Shield to be remarkably accurate for a pretty tiny gun with a short sight radius. It does better with 147g loads than with 124s, though. (Never shoot 115s, so have no data there.) You might try some heavier bullets in the SIGs, just to see what (if anything) happens.
OTOH, if you'd just rather carry the 357, no reason to spend any more money than necessary on 9mm ammo.

If the dang 686+ was as lightweight as the 365 I'd be apt to want to breed with it. Instead, it's a brick on your hip compared to the 365.

DIFFEREN'T GROUP SIZES?
"There shouldn't be that much difference". Did you honestly expect an uber light/small semi to shoot as well as a 686? Apples & oranges? More like grapes & watermelons.

The load matters ... but not necessarily because it's powderpuff versus carry.
However, since the comparison is accuracy, that 9mm load would have to be known to wring the utmost accuracy from the guns. The only fair apples-to-apples comparison would be the most accurate carry-option for each gun.
In my case, that would be a particular recipe of 124JHP/9mm @ 1000fps in my 3" LC9S and a 125JHP/357 @ 1050fps in my M&P340. They're comparable on paper.

Doesn’t matter with a personal defense gun, they’re all solid hits up close and personal.
Did you shoot the 686 all double action or single action? That matters.
