A few months ago I found a S&W 632-1 in a local gun store. I bought it just to keep, as I know these PowerPort guns are somewhat collectible. Well that didnt work.... I took it to the range and ended up shooting a box of .327 Federal through it. Now I'm thinking about carrying it.
I just have a few problems that I could use some help with. First the grips are just too small and awkward to handle. I'm too used to carrying and shooting a snub nose N-frame. Any suggestions on J frame grips on the larger side? I have been looking at the grips that come with the Model 60 Pro Series possibly. An L Frame sized grip would be preferred though....
Second, I have a Ruger LCR in .327 as well. I upgraded the sights with a HiViz variant only to find multiple posts stating these are not sighted for the caliber. A few range visits seems to confirm this... is this also true with aftermarket sights for the S&W? Any suggestions from a .327 expert?

Any help would be much appreciated. I would love to hear from anyone that has experience with this caliber as well

For your 632, look at this Thaiand grips (via eBay) I have on my Model 60 3" (round butt J frame). They extend the grip so you can get all of your fingers on the grip. Also the grip covers the back of the gun. I like them alot.

Not really an expert, but I’ve got a .327 LCR as well. The previous owner put an XS Big Dot tritium sight on it and it shoots way low. I have to aim about 4 inches high at 7 yards. As long as I know that, I’m ok. It makes a good hotel nightstand gun with the big glowing dot. Do you reload .327 as well? It’s going to be my next caliber to get dies for. And lastly, I have a pair of grips you might be interested in. They were absolutely hideous on the early Chiefs Special I bought, so I quickly replaced them. Anyway, I don’t want them and they may actually look good on stainless. It’s a set of Fitz 10-O-Grips from the ‘70s? They are very ergonomic and comfortable. If you want to try them, PM me and I’ll just give them to you free.

I like the Crimson Trace green laser grips on my wife's 432. Good size and cushy enough to soak up recoil. And the green laser is visible in any light for a looooooong way.

BTW, I had an LCR in 327 Federal and it was just too much for me with the full power 327 (100g American Eagle or Speer Gold Dot) loads. And the lower powered ones weren't all that much more potent than the 100g Buffalo Bore 32 H&R Mag rounds, which I carry in my 632. Plus, the (red) Crimson Trace grip, which I like for ease of "alignment" in a hurry, just beat the c%*p out of the first joint on my trigger finger. The location of the laser bump was just enough different from where it sits on J frames that it whacked that joint on every shot, whereas I can shoot a J frame with CT grip pretty much as long as I can afford the ammo.

I like those a lot. Never considered Ebay for grips but I will have to check those out. Is that a round to square conversion grip?

My favorite J-frame of all times, my Model 60-4, reached perfection with a set of smooth combats with finger grooves, also from Thailand. Mine are made of a very dark wood like ebony and set the stainless off nicely. Not only that, but with these grips it is the most comfortable, naturally pointing handgun I own. I bought them to serve as a complement to the ones on my custom K-frame Project 616, but find I like them even better. Attached photo shows the reshod Model 60-4 "at rest."

The LCR is great. I replaced the grips with the larger LCR grips from the 3" version, which I highly recommend.
I do reload .327. It has become one of my favorite calibers. I wish S&W would make an 8 shot L Frame!
I went with Lee .32H&R dies from Amazon which work perfect. I had a hard time finding dies specific to .327.

Not pretty, but extremely comfortable and controllable to shoot: Pachmayr Compacs.

I like wood stocks as well as anybody, but on a J-frame for carrying the Compacs are aces. They're also inexpensive. They seal tightly to enclose the grip frame. I've used the same set, carried daily, for eighteen years and never had a speck of rust or crud under them.

You know, I hadn’t thought along those lines, having started building my K-frame Project 616 first, then discovering the R***r eight shot Blackhawk in 327 FM. The idea of more than six shots took a while to settle in my “old school brain,” but I’ve become resolved to it I guess. Therefore, the 8 shot L-frame is not all that strange to me now. I refer to my Blackhawk as both a work horse and a test bed for the 327, and this proposed L-frame could “do it all” as well (except concealed carry, of course! ) At my advanced age, I’m not sure how fully I could take advantage of such an introduction, but I bet it would stir up a bunch of interest.
