Default 25-5 at Last

Hello
I have been looking for a 25-5 for several years in a 4 inch nickel that wouldn't break the bank. Finally picked one up this weekend. The cylinder throats measure .452. Guns condition is outstanding. Came with the original Target Stocks, I put the combats on.
Please post pics of yours, I would enjoy seeing them.

I am not a big fan of nickel, but, I am a big fan of model 25s in 45 colt. That one looks great and I for one like the combats. I bet it becomes one of your favorites. I might even be a nickel fan if it was mine.

Good looking gun. Model 25 in 45 colt is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I prefer it in blue, but how can you not like a 4" nickel Model 25.

I was never much of a fan of Nickel revolvers for the longest time. However, over the last couple of years I’ve come to appreciate them a lot more. Especially the 4” guns. You found an excellent specimen, Congrats!
I’ve been seriously looking at the 4” model 29-2’s in Nickel as of late but I could be easily persuaded to buy a model 25 in Nickel just as well.
Hope I find one at a decent price as nice as yours.

Nice gun, and here are mine. One in nickel, one in blue, and the one I shoot most, in hard chrome.

Wow, that's stunning, the nickle looks like it's dripping off the gun. One more off the want list. Congrats!!

I have two 25-5s a 83/8" & 6", both blue. The 83/8" I've had for years and its target quality. The 6", I bought off forum and haven't had a chance to shoot it
only plink a box. Hoping it will be as good as the 83/8"
The Patridge front sight should be a plus for target. I
shoot nothing but cast and they are all target loads.IMG_2899.JPG

I love the S&Ws in .45 Colt!

The one on the bottom right is a 25-2 in .45acp, but all the rest are .45 Colt.

Very nice find. That one looks very clean

I am also a fan of the Model 25 when chambered in 45 LC

However mine are all blue or the Color Case Hardened. I do not own a nickel

I think I will take one when I head to the range tomorrow. It has been too long

THE LONG BARREL IN ,45ACP MUST BE AN AMAZING SHOOTER.....

IMHO, THE FULL POTENTIAL OF THE .45 ACP CARTRIDGE, CAN ONLY BE REALIZED WHEN IT IS SHOT FROM A REVOLVER......

I have a " love / hate " relationship with nickel guns . I love to buy them and hate to shoot them . I have just one 25-5 , blue in 4" and I was several yrs looking for one that I could afford . I put on a set of old Magna's . They are pretty beat up , but beings how Magna's of any quality are getting hard to find I bought them . Size wise they look about right . Regards, Paul

Yes. Every now and then there's a post about finding a nice or unusual gun in an unusual circumstance. At the time I found this 25-5 I was not all that much interested in S&W revolvers and was especially not all that interested in big ol' clunky S&W revolvers (i.e. N-frames) but fortunately at the time I remember a piece of advice from my dad that any S&W revolver in decent shape was worth X amount. Since they were asking half of X amount I decided to take a chance and glad I did. Fortunately the chambers measure .452. In hindsight it is beautiful.
