Guns modified for PPC don't often command a premium, in fact it's often the opposite, they sell for less than an unmodified version would cost, unless there's extras like a red dot sight. Perhaps it's because the market is so small, there's not a lot of demand.

Competition guns are usually shot much more than average since competitors practice more than the rest of us.
Of course, most of that is with target loads and not the hot stuff so it might even out.

You might try search some of the auction sites for guns like it that have sold. Be wary about guns listed for sale without bids, as they are often priced out of the market (hence the lack of bids). Guns that have been sold are a better barometer of prices people are willing to pay.

Maybe $400 if you are lucky. I have a A. F. Behlert custom PPC, that I bought for $200.00. Shoots very accurately and the action is as smooth as silk. Wish you luck.

thanks for the help - I will do a little searching
The first time I saw it having two names on it puzzled me until a friend explained why.
It is kinda cool.

As was stated, old PPC guns often command less then the unmodified equivalents. However the exception to this would be those converted by a big name ( heck of a deal on the Behlert) and those that can be repurposed. You have both - a Davis gun that can be used for steel or other forms of current competition. Still may bring less than the current value of a stock 25-2, but not the extreme suggested by the majority of this thread. I'd think in the $600 - $700 range.
I doubt that you'll find any comparables on GB or the like, and I'd recommend against comparing it to K or L frame .38 Spl PPC conversions - you have something special.
Good luck with your sale.
Adios,
Pizza Bob

Here is a thread I started not to long ago. Model 13-2 PPC Bill Davis It did not sell in the shop. They sold it at a steel shoot at a reduced price. I had thought of getting it, then I thought "What do I need another one for?".

I was told the cylinder does not lock tight and it needs a new locking bolt and to be re-timed.

Who said that? Find a authorized dealer/repair shop and have them look at it.

My friend told me that it needed those repairs.
I would put him in the class with other gun experts.

I have posted pictures of mine numerous times on the Forum. It does not appear to of been used or shot since its modification to a PPC Revolver. It is a modified Model 10-7. I purchased it at auction for $584.00 this past February. I think it is worth every penny of what I paid and had to of cost a lot more to build.

We've been good friends since we were in 1st grade back in 1961.
I have ended up with very respectable gun collection and he's the one who has been looking at all the guns, grading them and giving us an idea of what they are worth.
He is very meticulous in his process and you can tell that he is very, not sure if smart or educated is the word when it comes to guns.

That is a really nice gun. I had one like that, it shot good groups. Beware if shooting matches with it, the front sight elevation slider can become self adjusting sometimes. Kind of hard on the scorecard.

IMHO.......the N frame and L frame PPC guns are commanding a better price than their brothers in K frames.
Why?
Weight/recoil management issues. OK, Ok, ok.....the features, how it fits and balances is also a big issue. But, still......whatever the buyer and seller agrees on, is the price (so, there you are).
Aloha, Mark
My PPC revolvers.

rubiranch,
Your .45 is not a PPC revolver. lamarw and ma96782 posted pictures of what PPC revolvers evolved into before they were superseded by simi-automatic pistols. The main features of PPC revolvers were sights that quickly switced back and forth between three distances, 3 3/4 to 4 3/4 pound weight, and very smooth double action trigger pull. All that I have ever seen had 6" barrels. Your revolver was customized by Davis for some other purpose. That is good because in PPC sim-autos replaced revolvers and in most communities PPC has been replaced by more modern matches.
Our matches are typical. Unlike PPC, we draw, move between firing points, and reload. Score is time in seconds plus bad points. Also unlike PPC, a revolver that can not be reloaded with full moon clips is a disadvantage. Your .45 would fit right in. Naturally the collectors that haunt this forum tell you that it has less collector value than a half eaten bag of potato chips. While that is true, if you could consistently place in the top 3 spots in our matches with it you could sell it to another competitor for $800. However, cars and guns that do not run well sell low. It is up to you to make it worth good money.

Looks like mine for the most part. Mine was built in the 1960's and by a different 'smith. Nice piece. Yours?

There's no identifying marks on it to identify the maker.
I hoped maybe someone might have an idea from the squared trigger guard.

A friend of mine that was a police Officer in Orange County, Calif. had one that sort looked like that. He carried it on duty, he was a motorcycle cop. So I am thinking that whoever made that piece was a west coast gunsmith.
