Default Got my M69 out again yesterday....

After a full day of doing some trail clearing I managed to have a little energy left to fire 40 rounds of my loads using the Lyman bullet 4292150GC loaded with 9 gr. of Unique.
They shoot really well and leave the bore very clean!

For whatever reason I seem to shoot it better one handed even in DA mode.

My “full day” of reasonably strenuous outdoor work has somehow become about three-hours.

I wish you had favored us with some pics. I sometimes use the 429215, but years ago modified the mold to do away with the gas check so that the finished bullet weighs 200 grains. I wanted a 200 gr bullet, mostly for indoor shooting, and to save a little lead.

I normally use 8 grs of W231. It is one of those bullets that shoots better than it looks, IMHO. I have experimented with seating it over the driving band and cutting back on the powder charge a bit but have given up on that and gone back to normal seating and crimping.

What stocks are you using on your Model 69?

Still using the factory grip and they seem to work well for me with moderate .44 Mag loads.
Picture after shooting yesterday and notice gun stays cleaner since SW got the cylinder gap right! Also the 230 gr. load I was talking about.

S&W got it Right with the 69. I use a 250gn Plain Base Keith type bullet with enough Unique to get 1000 fps. Gun is used exclusively for Paper Punchin. Here's mine cozying up with my 3" 629 Talo. Oh by the way, I got to get rid of that black Cylinder latch and replace with stainless

I'm just fine with the black latch. My 69 has been to the range 6 times already. My 629-6 is getting lonely. Not being a reloader, it gets expensive to shoot two 44 mags the same day. I usually shoot 30 or 40 rd with the 44's. I shot all 240 gr 1150 FPS ammo the last trip, and it's really not bad with the stock grip.

I thought I was the only 44 shooter that doesn't reload. I reloaded for 20 years but got tired of it and switched to factory ammo a while back.

If you are looking for different power options in factory ammo check out georgia-arms.com. They have both a low power cowboy load and one that shoots a 240 grain bullet at 1000 fps. The second load feels about right in my 69. Strong enough to be interesting but not punishing the way too many full power loads can be. Price is reasonable too, $27/50 with brand new 44 magnum brass.

They both shoot OK for me but I always shoot my 69 offhand so I cannot say how accurate they are when shot off a rest. The cowboy load is smoky but since I clean my gun after every shooting session that doesn't bother me.

Thanks--I'll check out Georgia Arms. I've bought some HSM cowboy ammo and some LAX ammo, which is also 240 gr at right about 1000 FPS. They also have reasonably priced 44 spl. They now have a 240 gr 1500 FPS load I'm tempted to try out.

My model 69 is my favorite revolver. The wife and I were trail riding yesterday and like always I carried my model 69 in the Diamond D chest holster. Where we ride lots of wild hogs and seeing an occasional bear happens to. It pays to be prepared. Mine is a field revolver first and range plinker second. I usually carry it loaded with jacketed bullets over 2400 but sometimes RCBS 245gr KT SWC over 2400. Pachmayer Diamond Pro grips.

I like the 200 gr. XTP bullet loaded with 11.5 gr. of Unique for a moderate defensive load.
