Default 640-1 357 w P Port Question???

I wonder if anyone has info on this? It looks like a
Standard 640-1 but it has power ports but in the barrel. Not a quadraport but just the 2 on top of barrel.
I don't find a match for it in SCSW. Neither in the Performance Center or Standard section of the catalog. SN prefix is ESN96xx
It is possible the Power Port was done after market or by S&W after it was purchased as a standard 640-1?
Any helpful knowledge is appreciated. I do not know if the stocks came with with gun. Std stocks would have been U Mike's boot grips. Also, no box or product codes to go by.

I dont think it has a power port. I think it has a magna port.
It could've been done after it was purchased.

Oh you are correct. My mistake. I see Magna- Port offers porting after market as well. This may well be the case with this 640-1.
I bought this as I prefer the 640 in 357 magnum without the Pro series package. I don't like the raised front sights on the 640 pro.

Some models did come magnaported from the factory. They still use them on certain models today . Only with the box or a letter from the factory would you really find out.
Someone might come along and prove this possible. I'm not an expert in J frames.

That is a Mag-Na-Port job. They have a patent on the trapezoidal shaped ports so nobody else does them.

I would venture to guess that the Mag-Na-Port work was done after the revolver left the factory.

The revolver you have pictured is not a Performance Center offering

The 640 was offered from the Factory with a quad port setup as well as a Power port setup

Those grips on yours are not what it left the factory with

Just go pick up your phone and call Smith and Wesson. Give them your serial number and ask for the 6 digit product code

Then you will be able to find the entry in the SCSW.
