I didn't ask about box or papers. Obviously no lock. I haven't seen a 3" one with regular sights before - no hi-viz or anything.

I personally detest the fiber optic sights and always liked the looks of the 3” with normal sights. Not sure I would spend 550 for one though

I have one of those. Great little gun (they are 8 shot). They are a bit rare in that configuration. And that price is a fair one.

If you’re thinking of using it like a kit gun, be aware - it’s a hard one to shoot accurately. Based on your Model 34 expectations, cut the range in half and/or double the target size. JMHO.

I'd say it's fairly priced.

Mine will put all 8 into 1.5" at 50 feet. It's suitable for chipmunks/starlings at 50 feet when I'm so inclined. I don't think I'd want to shoot anything bigger/further, so I'm not sure how I would benefit from greater accuracy.

I'd be all over it. No lock, iron sights and the excellent Uncle Mikes combat stocks.

I have one in exactly the same configuration, paid the same price, would do it again. See if you can get it out the door for that price, that's probably the best you'll be able to do.

I have 2 of that model. I don't have product codes handy but one has the original factory wood and the other has the UM rubbers, both as shipped. They are LNIB and I wouldn't sell either for that but that's just me.
I think I have a pic if I can find it. If so will post.

Have the same gun and love it. Also a 2” 317, 43C and a 351C. It’s a fair price.

I would only have the fiber optic sighted version 317 IF there was no other choice.

Have owned several of these (earlier version) since they first came out.

Currently own 2 (earlier) model 317s with std. adj. sights in 3 inch and one sort of rare Lady Smith 317 in 2" w/ fixed sight.

I liked the first 3" 317 so much that I recently found another older one w/ Non-optic sights that I added it to the mix. I now carry one each in the Jeep and Tacoma for hiking, snakes, etc. Bigger stuff is in each vehicle for human beasts, etc.

I would be embarrassed to share how many Kit Guns are here in all forms: nickel, blue, stainless, pre-34, 34, 63, 650, 651, 35, and so on.................but the 317s get carried the most in the woods.

I have to pleasantly disagree that the 3" 317 is not pretty darned accurate, all things considered. I do agree with Mike Campbell. IF I do my job, surprisingly, the 317 will keep up close with the 4-inch model 34 and 63 versions. Tin cans and marshmellows are in danger at 20 yards with either of the two 3-inch 317s.

The 2-inch Lady Smith is mostly carried with rat shot in pursuit of venomous serpents, so not used to plink with. It is the Kit Gun carried most when I hike in the National Forest.

In my opinion, the older 317 is worth it...........grab it.............there aren't any more like that one!!

I picked up a 2" 317ND early this year for $399, very clean but no box. It was a nice gun, exceptionally light, good shooter. I would still have it, but it went to offset the cost of all the 3" 65's I bought this spring. As I recall I sold my 2" 317ND for $550.

I've never seen a 3" 317 with conventional sights, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if I had the chance. Based on how fast my 2" sold I would say that 3" is going for a fair price.

Had one. Wished I had it back. I found the gun easy to shoot accurately in single action. Double action accuracy was difficult for me.
It seemed to weigh about the same as the leather holster it rode in.
I think the posted price is reasonable.

I purchased one and don't really know why. Prolly because it was in the display case! I also found the Hi-Viz sight to be useless and had my 'smith replace it with a standard blade. My gun retailed for just over $600 new.

The cylinder is aluminum. I have heard whispers about the aluminum cylinder rendering the gun "light duty" only. Can any one confirm or deny this? Any ammo restrictions as to standard/high velocity or number of rounds fired?

I have owned a 2” barrel model since they were introduced. Stiff trigger, difficult to hold steady, shoots best with standard velocity ammo. I carried the little gun on every BSA hiking trip my son’s troop took. I got mine for $250.00 when Jumbo Sports went out of business.

I think the price is good.

Had one. Liked it but could not shoot it accurately. Sold it.

I've got one with the dymondwood grips. Wouldn't let it go for that price. If you want it, lay 500 on the table but be prepared to pay full freight if you want it. I lost out on a great gun on the forum a few weeks ago because I didn't go ahead and post an I'll take it. I tried to get cutsy ans sent in an offer and it got bought out from under me. Great gun at a FAIR price, don't know what I was thinking. Plus he was local and I could have driven it to New Orleans and picked it up.

FYI I bought a 317 no dash used with finish issues on the crane. The coating S & W used on the AirLite does not seem very durable.

I bought a model 63 last time I was in the market for a 3" kit gun. That said, while I have no need for another, I'd be all over that one for that price if it were in my LGS.
