Default 686 pick up

Went to LGS this morning to pick up my 686+ 6" that I had ordered in and asked if they had gotten anything used in this week.
They had this 4" 686-1 that looked in good shape. Was asking $660, I offered $500 and walked out with it.

Another impulse buy, tell me if its worth it or not guys, honest.

As long as a 686 is functional you won't loose money at $500. That was a great buy not mention it's an earlier model in very good condition with a holster. That is a win all around

Overall. The gun seems in great shape, but just not feeling the grips, I'll need to change those.
Should this be a round butt?

Probably a square butt, remove one screw and you'll know for sure.

I'm hard pressed to turn down any pre-lock 686 @ $500.

Congrats!

So what is the deal with the hammer and trigger on these? Not case hardened?

Somebody else better versed in 686’s may come along and correct this, but I believe the earlier versions had flash chromed triggers and hammers. The dash 4 had hammers and triggers that were not flashed chromed.

Yeah, trying to figure out if I like this holster. It's kind of cool, but not sure how well it will hold up. They had $10 sticker on the holster, but I got him to toss it in, along with another set of plastic grips
