Default Looking for a particular S&W .44 mag

Guys, S&W did a limited run of a 2" stainless steel .44 magnum. It did not have an adjustable rear sight.

Can someone please help me out with the name or the name of the run?

Thanks very much -

Rich

Could it be this one, Camfour 2.5 inch, fixed sight, Model 629-6? They also made a 629-5 Camfour gun without the lock.

Or could it be the top one in the photo(sorry I don't have an individual photo) This is a 629-3 Lew Horton Carry Comp (also called Mag Comp) They also made another similar one, its either a "-5" or "-6." This one is 3 inch with a top port.

Good luck, took me several years to find one. My cousin has the 629-5 and I've been trying to talk him out of it for four years, no luck so far.

Sources say only 300 of the -5 version were made. Product code was 103839 (searchable term).

Then there's the UDR, the Ultimate Defense Revolver featured in the movie Blood Work. Those are Lew Horton guns, with just 163 of the -5 version being made at the Performance Center. Product code 170135.

Not many of either were made, but they both turn up for sale from time to time. Trading hands on Gun Broker on occasion.

Doc,

Bring your fat wallet, the 629-5's have been going for over 2k recently. I traded for mine several years back and would be really hard pressed to turn loose of it.

My 629-5 with a full underlugged 3" barrel was hard enough to find. I cannot imagine how hard it will be to find a 2.5" version but I do wish you luck OP! I wanted a Lew Horton Special and a Mountain Back Packer, both 3" barreled .44Mags/Specials and both "Grail Guns" of mine I really wanted. If you look hard enough and have cash in hand and are ready to jump when you find one... they you'll certainly get what you are after!

Pic of my 3" babies!
