Default Stainless Steel

A friend has purchased a Mod. 66-3 the are some slight marks in the area that has been blasted. He questioned me on how to get rid of them. I offer up this to the forum. I have not seen the gun or the marks(abrasions). Would Scotch-Brite pads work on this? Thanks for the help with this request.

They might work. blending in "slight marks" will be more technique than anything else. There's a good chance that trying to get rid of any slight marks will result in the whole general area being polished.

Is "the area that has been blasted" directly over the barrel cylinder (B/C) gap? Firing lots of standard magnum revolver cartridges always erodes a line in the bottom of the top strap above the B/C gap. If you sand it off it will look like the gun was owned by a dishonest seller and erosion will recur with use. An experience woman or gun is not a bad thing. Embrace her as she is.

Presume you're talking about the top strap of the revolver? That part is bead blasted matte to reduce reflectivity when shooting.

If so, no, a scouring pad won't work, it'll make things worse. The only way to re-matte a bead blast is with another bead blast. For small handling marks in the top strap, you can blend by holding some coarse grit sandpaper face down over the spot and give a gentle smack with the nylon side of a gunsmith's hammer.

I think the " area that has been blasted" would mean the top strap and top of the barrel. On a 66-3 the gun would still be that intermediate finish between polished and brushed.

NO...scotchbrite pads would not work in that area if that is where you mean. It would start to take off the bead blasted surface. The only thing that will help marks in that surface that I know if is to have it blasted again.
