Will a stainless 629 cylinder fit in a 329PD?

If so, what pieces have to come with the 629 cylinder to make it work?

I tried to install my 629 Mtn Gun cylinder in two of my 329s. Tried the entire 629 assembly (yoke/cyl) and just the 629 cyl w/329 yoke/crane. IIRC (it's been a long time) I couldn't even close the cylinder. Was just curious, and didn't want to force anything, so I didn't pursue it. In theory, I would think it should work - probably require some fitting.

Thanks, Paul. Sounds like a job for the performance center (if/when I feel like letting the new one go again).

I swapped cylinders between my 325 PD and a 625 easy as pie. No pain and no strain. I felt the 325 was too light for much shooting and so I swapped cylinders. The titanium cylinder also is harder than stainless and doesn't peen as readily so I wanted it in my match gun. The 325PD carries nicely but it's so light I experienced bullet jump during a match. Will sell the 325 eventually.

PS I swapped only the cylinders, not the yoke.

It should. I bought a new unfluted Ss cylinder from MidwayUSA & installed it on my 629-6. Later I used the fluted 629-6's Ss cylinder on my new 329PD.

A new cylinder typically comes with the extractor but I found it best to use only the new cylinder along with the original gun's cylinder extractor & related parts. Doing this keeps the gun in time (assuming it was originally) & saves filing/tuning the extractor's rachets.

Doing it this way the worse I've had to do was put a couple shims on the yoke's barrel to correct for excessive cylinder endshake, on the 629-6. On the 329PD nothing needed correcting. I reused all other hardware (yoke, extractor/rachet, extractor rod, extractor rod collar, extractor spring, center pin, center pin spring) from Ti cylinder on the fluted 629-6 cylinder.

The Ss cylinder is 3.65oz heavier than the Ti cylinder & you can scrub away on it all you like.
