Default PERFORMANCE CENTER® MODEL 629 .44 MAGNUM® HUNTER

New toy! The modern Dirty Harry.

Video putting the first rounds through it: YouTube

The UTG red dot was always coming loose so I decided to ditch it.

Nice! I've tried over 15 different factory full horse power loads in my M629-5... The most accurate large bore factory load I've ever shot is the Hornady "LeverEvolution" line, 225grain, FTX Bullet rated at 1410fps. Now I don't get that velocity from a 3" barrel but you may with that "Modern Dirty Harry" Revo!

That's one sharp looking revolver. Curious if you plan to leave the red dot they come with on it? They might be perfectly fine, I don't know, but a $40 red dot on a $1200 gun seems incongruous. In any case, I want one.

Well now that's how you enter a forum . Welcome .Let us know how it does at the range and I also would be interested in how that red dot holds up.

I bought a PC SKU: 170334 over a year ago and was really impressed with its accuracy. One big hole at 25 yards.

Those Hornady Lever Rev 44 mag rounds are indeed hot. I bought a box of them for the heck of it. The only thing I've run that was hotter was some offerings from Buffalo Bore, and that was through a Super Redhawk, I won't run them in my 629.

Arrived at my gun shop in 3 days. But in Hawaii we have a 14 day waiting period before you can pick it up. You then have to register it at the police dept.

Welcome to the forum! Looks like a pretty soft shooter compared to my 5" 629-3. Did you purchase the Hunter model primarily for target shooting fun or also to "bring home the bacon", so to speak?

Thanks. Yeah the weight, long barrel, and the muzzle brake help a lot to reduce the recoil. I mainly plink but wouldn't mind harvesting a blacktail deer which is like catching a unicorn here on Kauai, haha.

Those are some fine guns for hunting or target shooting. I used mine for silhouette shooting for awhile. That cheap UTG is actually a very decent red dot. A good friend and shootin buddy, sw282 here on the forum has 13000 plus rounds through his and still counting.

Here it is with it's SS finish brother.
