Found a used 686 and made it Mine
I had a 4" 686-4 about 5yrs ago. I didn't shoot it much and finally sold it to finance a 1911. I always regretted getting rid of the 686, and the other Day I came across this used one in a LGS. It was in the original box with all the paperwork even the Lock. It's a Dash 6, but I've gotten over the Keyhole thing a while back and it no longer matters to me. Double action was a bit Heavy and I cured that with a 13# Wolff Rebound Spring. Now it's light and Smooth Just like an S&W ought to be. $475+Tax

Does the #13 rebound spring change the single action much, reason for asking I have a m65 with a heavy DA pull and am thinking of doing the same modification. Just don’t want a hair trigger in SA.
Good price on your 686, congrats

Yes the Single action pull was lightened too. I do not have a trigger gauge but it now feels like about 2.5-3 lbs. far from a Hair Trigger. I retained the Factory Mainspring for Reliability. If you need it, Miculek does a Youtube Video on the Spring Job......Lew

Any time you can get a good condition 686 for $500 or under it is a smart purchase period. That is just a good rule for life.

I had a 14# spring in my dash 6 and the single action trigger was amazing.

Congrats! You can never go wrong with a 686 it seems.
Just don't trade this one for a bottom feeder LOL. You still have the 1911?

There were several police trade ins for sale on GunBroker earlier this year going between $425-$475. I snagged one, shot it several times, cleaned it up, sold it at a gun show very quickly for a profit!

$475 for a 686?? That's just crazy talk!!! Those things sell like hotcakes for more than that. That was a steal!! Police ought to be knocking on your door any day. Beautiful gun and did I say you got a bargain too. Don't let this one slip through your hands. No better gun out there to accompany some 1911's to the range. Enjoy
