625-3 3" Revolver
Can't help myself when it comes to big bore, small barreled revolvers. Picked this up recently. I'm looking for a set of wooden combats for it. Haven't taken it to the range yet but will do so soon.

Nice, 625s are great revolvers. Really like my 5 inch versions but I'd sure like to find a 3 inch like that. Enjoy.

I started shooting this model with the 5-inch version, but soon found myself looking around for both the 4-inch and 3-inch. IIRC, the 4-inch version was the toughest to find. I think that old Model of 1988, has probably put more smiles on people's faces than any other revolver I've let anyone shoot. They're wonderful old guns!

The 4” was also a 1989, the 1988 only came in 5”.

If you have any interest, these are great cast bullet guns. Because of its weight, the 3" is much easier to shoot well than many short-barreled revolvers.

Same here... All I have are J frame and N frame snubs! Your 3" M625 was my grail gun... after 2 years of searching, hitting GB, Estate Sales, Shops, Outdoorstrader, etc to no avail I gave up on it and got a 3" barreled Lew Horton .44Mag... Now I'm addicted to the .429 caliber... I'd still snatch up an M625 3" if I ever run across one that is for darn sure!

Very nice as is!
Understand everyone likes factory combats (see SC Hunter's pics), but don't discount the original configuration "K" Pachmayrs. They handle great for a shooter big bore.
Here's a pic of my old 4" M625-3. Wish I still had it - factory Pachs, & all!

I do like that 3" 625-3.
I know my 625-9 "Mountain Gun" is a great shooter and, Dregg, I bet your 625-3 is also. My 625 is the piece that's in my nightstand drawer loaded with Sig Sauer .45 Colt cartridges that launch a 230 grain JHP bullet.
S&W Model 625-9 "Mountain Gun" in .45 Colt.

That Revo is both mint and sick! .45LongColt is a pretty awesome cartridge but then again so is the ol' venerable .45ACP and even more so... the .45Super load/cartridge: which is another bad-azz but still a tangible factory load that you can run thru that pretty lady because it has the same exact external dimensions as the .45acp... Yet, The Super has a thicker web casing at the case head" and usually is usually loaded with a 255 grain "Pill" of a Hard Cast "Keith" variety... but it's a better performer against popping steel plates and pointed at thick pelted,,, (4) legged threats than any factory loaded .45LC can do... Just a thought but both Underwood and Buffalo Bore have stellar loads that can make that beautiful Revolver a great "Woods-Companion"!

Oh that 3" is so hot! What a versatile package that round and that revolver is if you are into reloading as Matt's Bullets has every kind of projectile you would ever fathom or need!

Yes, get one when you can. I've spent over two years of searching for a reasonably priced 3" 625-3. I've passed on a couple that were a measly $100 over my budget. After finally landing one for a doable price, i shot it, fondled it, and wondered why I hadn't paid a little more for one much sooner.
3" 625s are sweet and highly desirable revolvers that will never be made again, and the prices will only increase.

Oh I would buy that in a heartbeat. If you don't mind me asking... what did you end up paying for it after tax, ffl fees, shipping, etc? You can PM me if you like and if you don't want to disclose, I understand that too! The reason I ask is I've not seen them go for anything under $1500, IF you are fortunate enough to find the ad after the sale that is!
Those grips look fantastic! However, they look just a little different than my Combats on my M29-3 Lew Horton. They appear to be flatter, which is something I think I may like even more... but it might just be the lighting.
I bought a 4" M625 thinking, I'll love this almost as much as a 3"... Nah, shouldn't have wasted my time! It's life, it's short, we're not talking a Ferrari here... Get exactly what you want the first time as in the end it will cost you less and you will be happy from the start!

I bought it several years ago. The $875 price was in the ballpark back then. Can't remember which grips came with it.
The stocks in the pic are later Model Combats. Commonly referred to as "flat side" Combats. Original to 610s and other models. Much more comfortable for me than the earlier 'rounder' Combats

I'm a big fan of the 625 snubs as well. Both of mine are in 45 acp, and they are the only two I've ever seen in person. I bought the top one for $800 and the bottom one for $900, both did not include their original boxes. I feel lucky to have both and paid the prices I did. If you find one for under a grand, snap it up. You won't regret it.

Thank you. You stole it for $875! I'd keep that one forever...
"Flat Side Combats", alright then... I'm on the hunt for a pair now! The standard Goncalo Alves "Combats" fit my mitts almost like they were molded just for me and they spread the recoil out nicely. But almost everything can be improved.
