Scammer in the wire
I’ve had a WTB ad for a 581 posted for about a week. I got a pm late last night from a “member” who claimed he had a nice one and asked me to contact him at an Email he listed. No pics. Red flag goes up. Checking his profile, I see that he joined the forum in October of 2018. It gets better. I check his posts and he has posted three or four comments one day ago on threads. They were all senseless such as “nice gun” and such with a few typos. I’m a relatively new member. If this is old news and stuff, my apologies. A shame, and beware.

Sorry for my learning curve. I have since sent a PM to an administrator reporting this guy and I have further reviewed the forum instructions regarding this topic. Hope this helps.

You wanna tell us said "scammer", ummm, I mean (scumbags) username here so the rest of us can treat him appropriately and not get burned? I recently purchased a really nice gun from a forum member here (OldEnough) that turned out to be a pleasure/win-win for both parties involved... what a nice guy he is. That led to another ammo buy off of this forum a week later.

There seem to be scammers everywhere. I recently posted a WTB ad for a Model 67 and received very nice photos of a gun but no price. I was warned about the seller so I told him that if his price was acceptable, I would insist upon the gun being shipped to my gunsmith to whom I would give a USPS Money Order made payable to the seller that the gunsmith would mail if the gun was as advertised. I never heard back from him.
Another time, I posted a photo of a Remington Model 541-T for which wood was made by Remington's Custom Shop. A week or so later, a friend emailed me, surprised that I would be selling that gun. It turned out that a scammer lifted my photo and listed the gun for sale on another site.
By the way, I did buy a no-dash Model 67, complete with stainless steel rear sight, from another Forum member in Colorado for a very fair price. It was polished (I dislike that) and a little cosmetically rough around the edges so it is at my gunsmith's being "restored" right now.
You can't be too careful and usually, our fellow members here are very safe people with whom to do business.

Yeah, it happens everywhere and all to often in this immoral time where losers are celebrated for their ill gotten gains and ways to fare beat the system.
I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing I screwed somebody over and NOT for the mere fact that things like that have a way of coming back around full turn... but because it just doesn't feel good. I'd rather take a loss on something or give a favorable concession on a sale to be able to make things right and to be able to just "feel right" about it. Most people are like that I believe... or at least I want to believe that...

Fortunately for Mankind most people can be trusted to do what is right and be honest and upfront. The problem is the few who can't are hard to find them out. I've known a few who took me years before I finally realized how deceitful they were. Psychosis is most often difficult to detect and you have to be diligent.

I absolutely agree and same here! I don't get fooled often... and it takes a really sadistic/depraved and truly evil "person", (if you can really even call them a person), to fool me because I have innate street smarts. But admittedly yes, it's happened to me too; (2) family members to be exact. I think I got, "got" because of the family member angle situation/angle aspect... If these so called "people" had been non-family members I would have seen right thru them in short order. We all have our weaknesses and I'm certainly not immune!
