Has any one bought a model 65 lately, if so what are they selling for in your area? What I,m looking at is an excellent condition 65-5. Thanks in advance.

I JUST bought one. What is the asking price on the one you are looking at?

Most 65's in good condition are about $700 when I see them for auction. With box and docs, on the excellent/new side $1000+.

I payed around $650 for my 65-5 with box and doc, and sold my well used 65-3 for the same about 2 years ago. However one was on my local board this past weekend. Not sure what dash but it had a 3” barrel for the sum of $425, someone got a deal that day!! Wish it had been me.

I've been shopping stores and shows for over 20 years and have never even seen one for sale in person. The ones I have I bought on Gunbroker. They can go for mid 600 and up depending on condition.

I have 7 model 65 with 3 inch barrels. None were bought off the internet, none off a table at gunshows. Ever check the guys walking around at the shows? That's how you get the good stuff.

I'm in PA. In January '17 I saw a mint 65-3 in a shop for $900. At a show in December '17 I saw a really nice 65-3 for $895. It sold before I got back with the cash. Back in May I bought a 3" 65-3 for $800. In June I picked up a 3" 65-5LS for $495. Price varies based on how informed the seller is. The dealer's with those 65-3 revolvers knew they were in demand. The 65-5LS was viewed as a no more than a used K frame.
Earlier this year I also saw a immaculate 3" 64-3 sell for $750. The 3" K frames are really popular.

Sounds like you stole that one. The one this past weekend was the cheapest I have seen one for sale, since I have been looking for them.

I purchased the M65-5 that I inquired about for $400 plus tax, so I guess I didnt do to bad! It is interesting to see what certain revolvers bring in other areas. Oh this was for the gun only with original grips, no box or papers.

I thought I did quite well too. The best thing is that when I got married 10 years ago, I gave my wife a 4" nickel M19-4. When she was in law enforcement, she carried a 4" M66, so the M19 was the closest revolver I had. After beating up the rear sight on her M66, she came to like fixed sights. So, we traded. She got the M65 and I got my M19 back.

My 65-5 Ladysmith cost me around $750 a few months ago. I didn't dare hesitate buying it

WOW 1943, you made an excellent purchase. Now let's see some pics.
Oh, by the way, 3" Smith revolvers are addicting.

That’s about right.
I’ve never seen one in the wild, either.

Hello, last year I picked up a 3” 65-5 for 500, and a 3’ 64-3 for 450. It was a good year!

Got a 65-5 3 inch from a gun show walker a year ago for 375. Also picked up a 64 3 inch for 400. Both 99 %. Oh happy day.

I’m a sucker for a 3” K Frame. Here are some I’ve bought locally in the last year and what I wound up paying. Some steals and a few I paid through the nose but I wanted them so I guess I didn’t pay too much.
Model 66-2 $650
Model 66-5 $700
Model 10-0 $375
Model 64-3 $500
Model 65-3 $350
Model 65-3 $450
Model 13-3 Blue $700 (95% with Combats)
Model 13-3 Nickel $800 New in Box
Probably paid too much for the 13’s but they are the only 3” model 13’s I’ve ever seen in person and knew if I didn’t pull the trigger I would regret it later.

My relatively new to me 13-3 (3”) is quickly becoming a favorite shooter. Mine wears Culina Combats for, to me, the perfect combo. The 3” barrel on a K frame? Just right!

Those grips are about as pretty as I’ve ever seen.

I snagged a 65-5 3" this weekend at a local show. This truthfully was one I was never expecting to find. All said and done it cost just as much as the LS.
