60-14 3" target? Pics added as requested
My plethora of Smiths mostly pre-date the 2nd world war so bear with me.
I picked up a target sighted Mod 60 .357 from my local FFL that I won on Proxibid for cheap to keep in the truck (since it's a post-lock gun).
I have a -4 and -10 target in the safe, by the way and previously let a -15 go. :-(
Anyway, it was listed as a 60-14, so I assumed that was a typo. Well, I picked it up today and it's indeed a -14 and not a -15 as I thought it should be. The 'Bible' says the -14 was the 2" Ladysmith version and the -15 was the 3" target version. Do I have a rare oddity or simply a mistake?
Thoughts?
Anyone else seen a 60-14 3" target?
Here's a pic of the yoke along with a group shot of my 60-4, 60-10 and target 317.
I think I'll swap the barrel on the 60-14 stamped gun to a new 2" from what was probably an Ashland 60 target just for fun.

I've never seen a M60-14 that was a 3-inch target, then again, miss marked guns are not uncommon and rarely add value.

I am very fond of the Chief's Special Target in all of it variations
Is there any chance that you have the box? You did not mention it so I am guessing that is probably a no.
If you do not have the box, you might want to call Smith and Wesson with the serial number and ask for the 6 digit product code. That will answer many questions.

No, I don't have the box. It came from a Proxibid auction from AZ.
Some moron scratched out the external SN stamp below the cylinder window, so I had to draw file and polish that out. They didn't touch the 'official' yoke SN. The SN is also stamped on the side of the grip frame. Maybe this was a police order that requested the extra SN stampings like some of the NY guns?

Goodness that is one sexy and balanced piece of steel hardware! I bet it points about as good as my ol' 1911 Commander does as well... I'd hip carry that!

AFAIK, those factory combats are worth quite a bit of money. If that's what they are.
