Is this a Lew Horton 625-6, 3"
Good morning all!
Just purchased this at an estate sale. Can anyone give a good guess if this is a Lew Horton? Found paperwork where the previous owner paid $600 in 1998 and he was an astute collector, meaning he was extremely careful about what he purchased and knew what he was doing.
It has case but don't know if it's original but no special box if it came in one. Thanks for any help out there! Beautiful piece!

The SCSW 4th edition lists the CCV serial number prefix as 1998.
Product code 148122 is listed in the SCSW in the section on Lew Horton Specials.
Here is what is listed regarding product code 148122:
M625, .45 LC (i.e. .45 Colt), 3" (i.e. 3" barrel), RR (i.e. red ramp front sight insert), WO (i.e. white outline on rear sight blade)
Product codes (SKU's) 148119 - 148222 were part of a four gun series (I suspect the 148222 is a typo in the SCSW and should be 148122?)
Produced 1998-2000
Quantity: 555
Serial # range: DDV, CDB, CDD, CDZ, CEB
The next closest product code is 148121 shown as a round butt, 3", .45 Colt, "Classic Carry", 555+ produced, manufactured 1998, 625-7, Lew Horton Dist.
Shorthand version of what the SCSW mentions regarding the 625-6 and 625-7:
625-6: 1997, cylinder stop stud eliminated, MIM parts, change internal lockwork in .45 ACP caliber
625-7: 1998, similar changes to the 625-6 except in .45 Colt.

For $600 you stole it. A Lew Horton Special, 3" barreled revo in .44special, .44Magnum, and .45acp all go for well over 1K on GB. Their 1985' manufactured .44Specials and .44Magnums go for $1500-$2000 on GB. Estate sales rock and I try to go as many as possible in my area.

It was a pretty amazing sale! Paid a ton of cash on 7 guns but just couldn't pass them up...got a Colt Python (nice) for $1,900 and a 1973 Colt .38 Detective Special, mirrored finish that looks brand spankin new for $600. Crazy! I actually paid $575 on the Lew Horton. I didn't know that's what it was and don't think they did either! Thanks for the feedback!

Congrats, you got a screaming deal! I thought I did good when I traded into a LNIB 3” 625-3 for a $775 gun I purchased earlier in the day. $575 is a steal!
To confirm your gun is chambered for .45 acp?
FYI: It came with the factory Pachs.

Resurrecting this year old thread to try and get clarification on this post. I have a 625-6 in 45 acp with a 3" barrel that the serial starts with CDD 63**. Is this a legit factory 3" gun?
I think that's what I was gleaning from your post, but I'm just on my first cup of coffee this morning. I've not has much luck finding information of it so far. I obtained it used, without a box or any documentation. Thanks in advance!

I am not familiar with the Model 625-5, 3", .45 acp referenced by kraynky.
CDD serial number prefix dates to 1999.
This is a mystery.
I cannot find any obvious answer to your question whether or not this is a legitimate 3" gun.
I quickly reviewed the SCSW in the section regarding the Model 625 on page 304. I see product # 170071 with the limited description of: 3" S Performance Center
I cross reference product #170071 on page 433 in the Performance Center chapter and here is the description:
170071 - not defined
Of interest is the product codes just before 170071 and after are from 1996 (i.e. 3 years before the serial number of your revolver).

I sincerely appreciate your research. You certainly know how to decipher the info within the SCSW. I couldn't find anything either way. I tried calling Lew Horton today, but the fellow asked me to try again tomorrow when a Mr. Minot would be back. That will be my next step.
Thanks again.
Oh, and if anyone else can tell me any new info I would be much obliged to you.
