Default Model 627 N frame 357 mag 6 shot

Hi everyone just purchased a 627 N frame, have been using a 586 and 686 in ICORE, shooting classic with comp III speedloaders, would like to continue but having difficulty finding 6 shot speed loaders for 38/357 for a N frame, any help would be appreciated, hate to mill it down to use moon clips. Cheers Steve

The HKS 27A speedloader for the M27/M28 should work, shouldn't it?

If it's a 6 shot 627 it should. There isn't a difference in cylinder size between a 6 shot 627 and a model 27 cylinder as far as I know.

That's what I thought. The 627 is just an (updated) stainless version of the 27.

The 6 shot is. Obviously the 8 shot 627 Pro and PC guns are different from the 27, but I believe the cylinders are still the same diameter. If I were home I could put calipers on my 627 Pro and one of my model 27's to make sure, but I won't be home until Wednesday evening where I could caliper them.

The six shot 627s all use the same speedloaders as the Model 27 & 28, all the way back to the Registered Magnums.
In my humble opinion, the best speedloader for these guns is the Safariland N1. They only made these in the original style small knob versions, and discontinued production years ago. You will have to use Ebay, Gunbroker or gun shows to find some. I used them for years shooting PPC, dropping them on concrete and gravel and mud and still have the original three I bought when there were first produced, way back when. They still look as good as when I first bought them.

IIRC and unless things have changed, outside diameter is the same but distance from center of cylinder to center of charge holes differ from 6 to 8 shot.

I just re read your post and see you have been using the Comp lll Safariland loaders for your L frame.

SL Variant makes or made 6 shot speedloaders for your N frame. They are very good and work like the Comp lll, with the long knob and are spring loaded.

By the way we like pictures. Did you buy a 627-0 or 627-2?
