I think it will fit all K,L, and N frames. Someone may be along shortly to correct me.
It looks nice, Tony. Best of luck with your project.

RE: "I need some help from you guys on the fitment applications for this part. It is shown here on a Smith 69. What other frames/models will this latch fit or specifically Not fit?"
I think it will also work on a J frame. To check my aging memory I swapped the releases from my Model 15 & 60-14, the 15's release is a little bigger on the outside but inside is the same. I ordered 3 of your new releases for some projects.

My only "IL" revolver is a 351PD, and if these fit a J frame I'm buying one. Does anyone know for certain yet. If I had more than one I'd buy it and see for myself, but if it won't work on my 351, I got nowhere else to put it.
I know, buy another gun! That's a $700 fix for a $25 part. I REALLY like the idea and the look!

That looks awesome, but what I want to know is, where can I get a knife to whittle stainless steel with?

I’ve been thinking about an M69 snubby conversion to .45ACP. Don’t know if it would be doable with the two piece barrel...but the main thing holding me back was the IL. Plug the hole and cover it with one of Tony’s cylinder releases...I like that idea! Now someone more knowledgeable is going to come along and burst my bubble by telling me it can’t be done...but I can dream, can’t I?

I have been shooting pistols most of my life but recently ventured into the revolver world by purchasing a S&W 327 2" revolver. Help me understand why revolver shooters have the need to ether cover up or plug the locking mechanism. I don't plan on ever using the one on my 327 but don't see the need to cover or plug it. What am I missing?

As you've said, you've been shooting pistols most of your life. Those of us who have been shooting revolvers most of our life just don't appreciate having that hole in the side of the revolver. Some plug it, some ignore it, some abhor it, and now some cover it up.

So is it more of an aesthetics issue or more of an infringement of our gun rights?

And some have absolutely no interest in ever acquiring/owning/using one for any reason. Same for lever action rifles with the idiot slider.

There have been instances of the lock engaging on it's own due to recoil. That will make it unable to fire, possibly at an inopportune time.

Tony, If you haven’t found the definitive application information, I just checked the fitment on several of my guns. The K,L, and N guns use the same thumb piece. The J-frame uses a smaller thumb piece and has a smaller mounting stud. I also found that the part numbers correspond to this finding.

I just finished putting 2 of these on my J frames, a 351PD & a 60-14, they are a dab oversized & required a bit of fitting w/ small files but function perfectly. After having a 63-5 lock up while shooting I removed all parts of the IL from all of my guns (it's amazing how thin & flimsy the plunger is!). This covers the hole very nicely & looks great. The black latch looks nice along w/ the black sights on the 60-14 & like it was born on the black 351PD.

I think this solution looks way better than the plugs. May add a few newer il guns to my wish list.

Please consider this: "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, this man is so foolhardy and reckless that he deactivated the factory safety equipment on the firearm he used to kill the alleged robber. Can you trust such a person to be telling the truth?" Just saying....

Just received my M69. BNIB. Knew ahead of time that first order of the day after initial inspection was to install the cylinder release I ordered in advance from fellow forum member Tony Rumore of Tromix.
I have to add that both quality of the release and the price were outstanding. I ordered a couple and they arrived 72 hours later.
Precision made but more important to me than just covering up the hole was the unanticipated benefit of the ergonomic improvement when deploying the release.
I was totally impressed with relative ease the release seem to need to release cylinder. Could be my particular hand fit and specific thumb angle but definitely works for me.
Have not fired a shot yet but at least I don't have to look at an unnecessary hole in frame side of my gun. Once, and if it passe the fire test, I will add the lock delete plug.
Thanks Tony & Tromix

You know, when you "pull it out and plug it up" like some people do, you can still see the plug.
Actually, the lock doesn't bother me but I bought one and put it on my model 69. I think it looks great. I've got arthritis in my hands and the added surface area on the latch makes it a lot easier to open the cylinder on the gun. Thanks Tony, keep up the good work.

t The loc never bothered me. If it did I wouldn’t buy the revolver. My new s&w n frames were only $699 nib with loc no problems. They function fine. I saved lots of money and it wasn’t on my car insurance, lol

Tony kudos to you for taking action on something much needed and wanted by the S&W gun community and at such a fair price compared to the alternative hide a hole option.
