Wonders never cease. After waiting for almost three weeks, due to very inclement weather, (floods and tornadoes) I FINALLY got to shoot the 610. Teresa (my wife) came with me and shot the Walther PPK/s in .22 Long Rifle . Watching her shoot was fun especially when she hit the bottles.

Anyway, the wait on the 610 was worth it as it ran like a champion. 66 SELLIER & BELLOT rounds went bang and the S&B primers are, from what I hear, very hard. I figure if the 610 will reliably shoot the S&B stuff, it will handle anything. A few more shooting sessions with no light primer strikes, and I will have a new carry gun. The recoil, while it was certainly there, was very manageable, and this was partly due to the Pachmayr Compac grips that my brother Dennis introduced me to when I lived back in Seattle. I've always liked them.

Mine has the 4" barrel

I had loads of fun today. I'd post a picture of it, except that I'd likely just bollix it up.

I also use the Pachmayr Compac grips, but usually on snubbies. I never thought about it for a 4"

Hogue makes lanyard screws for their grips and I ordered four of them. I cut a hole in the bottom of the Pachmayr so the Hogue attachment clip would work and will put a couple of nuts on the screw, cut the excess off and dress it up with a fine file. That should go a long ways to prevent the gun's loss when I'm outdoors.

I had something similar done to the grip on my 986, and it works very well.



The grips pictured are the Hogue Bantam, not the Pachmayr.

I've been working up loads using different powders/charges in my new 610-3 & largely whatever has grouped well in my 10mm 3rd Gens is grouping the best in the 610 too.

I use CCI primers & even without moonclips I've gotten reliable ignition & no FTFs.

If you like the 10 mm and you like revolvers, I think this is good as it gets. I waited for almost 30 years on this and for me, it is dream come true at last.

I love mine. In fact, this is the gun I'd take to Alaska or to sea. My next project is to work on one of the Hogue lanyard screws, and get that over with.

I got the GP100 3in in 10mm [L frameish]
Those that shoot it are supprised at the kick [though it would kick like a 45]
The 10 in a modern "Fighting Revolver" is a natural [good power , moon clip loaded]
Contact Ranch Products for moon clips [ get 50 or 100 they are that reasonable]
I was able to get 1/3 moon clips for the ruger [2 shot] that
will fit a dump pouch, 2X2X2 pouch or flat in the pocket for CCW.[He might have them for the 610]
Ps Don't expect the revolver to shoot the CCI shot loads!!!
The case splits at the false bullet and makes removal a problem.
PPS Try some Underwood , BB, Corbon,Double tap ,or other full up loads
[not range loads] and you will be glad of the extra weight..
PPPs the speed difference between a 3 or 4in revolver and a 5 in 1911
seems to be between 50 to 100 fps [depending on load gun etc]
Not nearly the difference I expected.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to install a removable lanyard attachment, it's simple to do. If you have Hogues on your gun, call them up and have to send you a lanyard screw. Then just replace the regular screw with the lanyard screw. I then use a small quik-link to go through the hole in the lanyard screw, and some 550 para-cord goes through the link and around your neck just like Dudley Do Right of the Mounties.

If you prefer Compacs cut a hole in the bottom to make room for the attachment clip as I did here and use the lanyard screw there as well.

Here's the type of quik-link I am talking about. They're in hardware stores.


The lanyard screw costs $2.50 + S&H, and is not found on their website. They do stock it, so if you want one, the order has to be phoned in. To keep the para-cord from fraying, I turned a burner on my stove to high and touched the end of the cord to the red-hot burner.
