My favorite for now is my 686-6 plus and hope to get another favorite , maybe a older model blued .38 spl with nice stocks.

Mine is a 4" 25-5, .45 LC I bought new in 1989. It has a smooth, wide target trigger, bobbed hammer, Meprolight sights, Wolff spring kit and modified stock grips. It's my house gun.

I started out on 686s and they still have a spot in my heart but I absolutely love my 29s. It would be hard for me to pick a specific one of the bunch so here's a pic of two. One is my favorite, I'm just not sure which one

A six inch 686 is the Smith that started it all for me back in the late 1980s. I ended up selling that one a few years later but in 1994 I picked up my present 686-4 six inch and it has been the revolver I shoot most accurately through the years.
Although a recently acquired 586-4 four inch looks like it might give the 686 some serious competition!

My favorite is my 10-8. I am very comfortable shooting it. It is accurate and I cannot possibly hurt it in any way.

Had to clean her up, and the 29-3 looks great! Stocks are off center as they are worn out around the frame stock pin from carrying it. Snuck in a my other two favorite 44s with the 29-3 in the case

I enjoy all my S&W revolvers but my favorite is the M28-2 (6”) I carried on duty, has my agency’s name stamped on the sideplate. Nothing fancy but it and my Winchester M-12 kept me safe.

i have a pile of favorite S&W revolvers but this one rises to the top. it is the most accurate and by far the smoothest action of any of my Smiths. It's a 14-5 .38spl 6". They are fairly rare and built up by smith to be a target pistol.. absolutely awesome to shoot

Reading the comments here and in other threads like this one reminds me that there are so many great S&W revolvers! Over the last fifty years I’ve been lucky to own examples of most of them, at one time or another, and it’s been a lot of fun!
I remember when I was a young lad and was more vigorous outdoors than I am now (and before stainless revolvers had become common - only the Model 60 was being produced), I thought if I just had four S&W revolvers, I’d be set for life. They were:
M34 4”
M36 2”
M19 4”
M29 6.5”
(Along with a .45 GM and a .45 Commander, of course... )
At that time, I had only the Model 29.  That list is still a good one for me. I don’t know how I have gone so far astray over the years.

Have to be my 3 inch 66-4 with Spegel Boot grips..........the prefect compromise for an EDC revolver and great for Penn's Woods carry..... carried in a Milt Sparks Summer Special.

A gun I built to my own taste. Approx 4" barrel 629-3 which started life as a 6.5" barreled gun. Weigand front sight. It is a joy to shoot.

My favorite S&W revolver is my S&W 18-3. It is superlative in every way. P&R. TG. Four inch barrel. Tapered barrel. Outstanding DA and SA trigger. Has produced sub-2.5 inch double action 12 shot groups at 25 yds. Has produced the same 2.5 inch groups firing qualification course DA from 5 - 25 yds., total of 50 shots. On one memorable occasion I used this revolver in a local match shot at the state prison. The fellows in charge opined that the .22 LR was be a handicap for me. I beat all the civilian shooters and all the officers except for a officer on the tactical squad who beat me on X count. He was firing a six inch 686. I have fired untold thousands of rounds in this revolver since buying it in 2000. It is my most shot, most handled, most enjoyed revolver w/o exception. Sincerely. bruce.

The ones I miss the most would either be one of the M25 or M57 I owned when they brought less than an N framed 357. However my favorite for the last couple decades has been a basic 10-6 which was originally purchased and carried by a NYC Police Officer, Patrick J. Cassidy. It shows years of carry but shoots well and feels good in my hand. God Speed Office Cassidy, where ever you are.

My Favorite - Model 66-4
My favorite is my Model 66-4. I carried it during my career as a law enforcement ranger for the National Park Service until we transitioned to semi-autos (for me a Sig p220). While I really like my p220, I love the way the 66 fits my hand and is a natural pointer. It has the best trigger of any firearm I've owned. I ccw my 66 quite frequently and when I shoot it at the range it always turns heads.

As I was running different guns through my mind this is the one that stuck this morning as my favorite.
This 66-1 belonged to my brother and was his duty gun the first 10 years as a Deputy Sheriff in Salt Lake City.

This early model 66 that belonged to Patrolman Larry Childress, Memphis Police. Killed in the line of duty Jan. 1982. It has a place of honor in my safe.

I'm not a collector and honestly while I like any gun I've had it's a tool first and foremost however I've also had five S&W revolvers and that covers every danged frame size from the X to the J and I can say that the four inch K frame is the best feeling .357 I've ever laid hands on.
I ditched the 1980's M66 I had ten or so years ago on account of the issues with ammo breaking them but I've got my new version just because after I found they improved them and I had the cash anyway and was looking for a new handgun well now....gimme another

This might be a tougher question than "If you could only have one gun" .............. it's at least as hard.
My first S&W will always be a contender, which is an old model 66-1 police trade in I bought for $199 bucks. They had been pushed aside for the wonder nines of the day.
You know what, rather than racking my brain trying to remember them all, sort through the memories of when & where I got them and how good looking they are. Not to mention how well they shoot, I'll just go with that one.
It had these old Pachmayr rubbers on it when I got it. My favorite uncle congratulated me on the purchase, and felt so sorry for me about how they looked, he gave me these targets for it. He was deputy sheriff at the time and carrying the same model.
So yeah, this one holds a lot of sentimental value with it, even though I own a few with higher street values. I can't begin to count how many rounds I've shot with it. It is my favorite no doubt.

My 1980 New York State Police M520.
This 520 has fired 102 rounds.
The first round into the ground to see if it worked by the original owner.
With the second round he ended his own life.
After my brother acquired it he fired the next 100 rounds.
It hasn't been fired since.
At least for today this is my favorite 1980-current handgun. 
I've been thinking that I needed a 4" M27-2.
I just realized this 4" is good enough.
I just saved myself some money.
Makes me think I must have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.

My favorite S&W revolver would be a scaled-down J frame shrunk to the smallet possible DAO 7-shot 22LR.

Easy, my 1978 6 1/2" S&W 29-2. It's made the old way, and I've always been a fan of Dirty Harry.

As someone stated earlier; "the one in my hand." If I had to choose only one, it would probably (maybe, kinda, sorta) be this one. A 629-5, 4 inch that sees a lot of outdoor time during deer season and is a real pleasure to shoot!
I like it so much that I bought a special holster and belt for it to ride in during hunting season.

If it is a Smith & Wesson revolver, Pre-lock... then that's my favorite. Blue or stainless, big or small, I love them. But I have two with the internal lock with the 'Plug' installed. Only two. S&W 586-7, a very elegant weapons, something a gentleman would carry under his tux with confidence. (If I had a tux at an up-town party I would)

My favorite has changed in the past year. It used to be my 629-4 Mtn Gun with it's 32 ounce trigger and Patridge front sight,but now it is my 4-1/4" mdl 69 with a 32 ounce trigger, and Patridge front sight. Both guns wear the X frame Hogues. Both guns are shot on a weekly basis with nothing but cast boolits. I also have a 629-3 Classic DX with a 5" bbl that runs a distant 3rd!

My model 67-5 with the aftermarket Altamont grips that I added on. It was my first revolver, and still is my favorite!

My current favorite doesn't belong on this thread. It's a Chief's Special from 1967 I picked up early this week.
To keep the post period correct I'll go with my 3" 64-3. I love the balance and it points like an extension of my hand.
