Easy answer for me, the 3-1/2" 27-2 that I recently picked up.

Best regards,

The one that means the most to me is my pre model 30 that my grand dad carried now and then. He carried the knife and rings too.

Y'all love them big bore blasters. I get the giggles shooting this 34-1 even though I can't hit much with it. Joe

Default Your Favorite Smith Revolver

I only have two. I have a 642CT with lock and I bought a no lock 442 today for $339 new. Very happy.

I used to have an R8 and it was dreamy, but I sold it to fund an emergency house expense a few years ago.

Current favorite is 442. Love it.

Hmm, that's a tough question as my favorite depends on my mood. But if I had to choose one, it'd be the 460V. Shooting that is just cathartic.

As I get older I have put away/sold/given away most my N frames
and gone to lighter K frame.
My favorites are round butt K's. they fit my hand well and .357 is
all I need were I hunt.
Model 66, Model 12-2, Pre Model 10 and a model 64.

I am not much of a handgun nervous, I know how to use what I have, and shoot, a lot, probably too much if you ask my wife. I currently own four handguns, a Les Baer UTC, 5" 45, a Inglis hi power, my very first handgun, sentimental reasons, can't separate with it, it does not get use much anymore, a nighthawk custom hi power in 9mm, and the only S&W, and revolver, that has ever made the cut and stayed, a 6" model 57, that I put Culina English walnut combats on. I shoot way more rifle than handgun, working on points for distinguished rifleman, it's a personal challenge.

Am surprised nobody has mentioned the Lew Horton Models 24 and 624 with 3" barrels in 44 Spcl. They are what turned me from a casual Smith owner to an enthusiastic collector. Put some Culina combats on them and you have something.

However, I will say the recently-acquired 3.5" 27-2 is a close second.

Look at posts 103 and 105 above. From a .22 to a .460! That shows the variety of S&W, tastes in them, and the range of handguns offered.

I see, and I don't think I could pick a favorite if the question were narrowed down to only the ones I personally owned. I've lusted over so many I never could afford at the time it would be next to impossible.

But I could narrow it down to an N frame if I were forced to

Tough choices!

While I own several S&W revolvers, when it comes right down to it - there are two I'd have to call "my favorite".

One is a factory engraved Model 63 I purchased as a remembrance of my mother.

The other is a grail gun of mine. A S&W 44 Triple Lock 4" (still waiting on the letter).

Probably my old Model 63 since I have shot it the most over the years - creek fishing and rabbit hunting. Trigger is down to 2 1/2 pounds. Shown dressed up in factory grips.

That's a tough choice to pick just one. I guess it would have to be this 44 Magnum 5 screw that shipped in 1956. It was then sent back to the factory, where they put on the 8 3/8" barrel and put it in this fairly rare satin lined mahogany case. I have shot it all of twice and man, does it shoot nice!

Favorite is tough.

I'm going to be selling off a handful of them so I can buy a couple more of what I really want.

Its tough trying to decide which ones go and which ones stay.

There's no way I could keep only one.

Have to agree, 60-15, spends little time in the dark.

OK, here's my favorite. Shipped 3/11/1960 my 6.5" M27
with stunning Coke Bottle Stocks that I recently added.

Like soo many other's I couldn't keep just one.

Some of my other guns are "specific purpose" guns so I need to keep them too.

As of today, I'll say this 27-2. It came to me with target trigger & hammer, which I swapped out for smooth combat trigger and semi-target hammer. I think I found the grips on eBay.

586-1

Whoever had it before me had the action slicked up.

It is a tack driver.

I shoot L Frames better then other Revolver and the 586 just has a panache to it.

Three inch K frame, preferably an M13. I have three M13s and one M10 with three inch barrels. Best balance for me. Although typically for carry I have a trusty M642 or M60.......

For me, it's my 681, followed very closely by my 986.

Both are L-frames; the 681 is a 6-shot 357, and the 986 is a 7-shot 9 mm.

I don't have a picture of it because I stooopidly sold it. A 3" Lew Horton M657. It have the perfect feel and balance that the 3" LH M624 I kept doesn't have (to me) with the short tapered barrel. I'd best describe it as the big brother to my 3" M66-2.

Hard to choose. I really like my 4" 27-3 that I used in my first police academy. These days however I like one of these, all in .45 Colt, a 625-7 MG, a 6" 25-9, and a 4" 25-9.

My all time favorite S&W was a 3" M65 round butt that fit into the date window... It was bobbed/DA only, with about a 7lb trigger, and it was a tack driver. I foolishly sold it many years ago.

I eventually replaced it with a PC M13 3", but I never liked the Mag-na-porting on that gun, so it went its merry way as well.

Though most of my S&W revolvers are older guns, I recently picked up a PC 3" M19, which is a fantastic shooter, but I think my favorite of those I currently own (in the stated date range) is a special run M586 4" from ~1989. They came with a round butt, matte blue finish and Hogue grips from the factory.

A friend had one when they were new, and I made a number of failed attempts to buy it from him. Last year I came across a LNIB example at a gun show and bought it on the spot. It's the only other example of this run I've ever seen for sale.

Default 60-7

Hard to believe but I can count on the fingers of one hand the Smith revolvers I still have. Would take both hands and feet to count the ones I've gone through.

So as I recently posted, I unloaded the 60-9, against the advice of many on the board and now only have a few left to choose from.

And since it's the one I carry if I carry, it's got to be the 60-7. Put Hogue Bantam grips back on it. I like the look of wood but the Bantams work better for me.

Come to think of it, I haven't fired any of the S&W's that I own. I have more firearms that I haven't fired than the ones I have. It's a personal problem (collector), what with work and all...

Rodan, I have a 586 just like yours including the finish. The one modification is Pachmayr Compac grips.

When I was a dealer 30 years ago it was part of my stock that I kept.

Like all S&W revolvers and hard to pick a favorite. Right now, it would be the 686 Plus 4".

It is very hard to compete with some of the beautiful revolvers on this thread. I am kind of jealous. Oh to have the ones I used to own. I still have this one though.

I been a die hard ruger fan for 40 years, I carried 44 mag Redhawk. I was never interested in s&w guns. When the grandson was born I figured he needs a 22 revolver, I purchased him a s&w k22 and a Colt Officers Target 22. Seeing the quality of the k22 I looked at the n frames. The rest is history. My favorite s&w revolver? My new s&w m58 in 41 mag.

The grandson is 9 yo now and has no clue as to what he has yet. He has a collection of 22 cal handguns and rifles. He needs to go shooting soon.

For the intent of this pistol and my favorite pastime in the woods of Maine this 66-1 fits the bill

my junker 686

early 80s duty gun, traded to the police academy mid 90s, and I bought in 2009 when it was traded for Glocks. It already had a billon cycles and I sent it to Bob Jones for an action job. Timing is perfect and had to send to Cyl&Slide after a two year wait to bushing the egg shaped center pin hole. Cylinder stop notches are showing some heavy use but still shoots good. I have a spare cylinder should the original finally wear out the stop notches.

For a rougheee, still shoots good.

when my eyes are working. This target took 30 minutes to score as there were arguments over it. shot this early last year.

I've been a shooter for 40+ years but I think my favorite revolver is this one, the 686+

I’m a lover of all j-frames and have several. So my favorite S&W for now is my 642pc no lock. This thing has a wonderful trigger just as it came from the factory. I only wish it had sights like my 640 pro.

My 6" nickel 27-2 is my favorite, (WARNING: politically incorrect and tasteless statement to follow:) but they are like boobs. If you fondle one, you want to fondle them all.

Don't mean to be rude, but's that's a bit like asking what's your favorite pie, dumb question.
