I picked up a 5" model 60-18 at the LGS last week. First one I've ever seen in person. Was NIB including fired case in its envelope dated 1/2005. Looked unfired since leaving the factory. Didn't want to walk away because I never saw one before and I've read they're not easy to find. Was on consignment for $499. The more I handle it the more I like it. It's kind of like having a .38 Regulation Police with better sights that takes .357! I also love the rosewood stocks. Do these have a following? Here's a pic:

I have another reason I had to have this. It just so happens I already had a 5" model 63-4 laying in the safe, so I had to bring the two 5" J-frames together!

I've never quite understood the odd and scarce 5-inch Model 60. Small frame, just 5 shots, but long barrel, what? But it's intriguing.

For $500, I also would have bought it! I'm not sure I'd ever fall in love with it, J-frames are never going to be my cup of tea. I've got big hands.

It's a heckuva buy at $500 and it could be quite some time before you see another. Great pickup.

I would have bought it in a heart beat and for the same reason as I also have a 5 inch 63-4. Odd guns, don't see either one often, but strangely attractive and shoot well too. Enjoy.

Interesting and looks nice, but I don't understand the long barrel on a revolver designed as an easy to conceal piece.

Concealed carry isn't the only use for a gun.

It would make a good holster carried kit gun for OC when hiking.

A great plinker, small game hunting gun, range gun, and general woods walking gun.

Much lighter than a K frame or larger 357 mag..

That said, I don't think it was very popular, but I'd like to have one.

I like it! Sure would like a range report on one as I think it would be a great hunting lease carry gun for pigs and such.

For me it’s merely a novelty like many other guns. But, if it floats your boat. I can think of worse things to drop $500 on.

Had one once. Surprisingly accurate. Bought it as a woods gun, but never carried it. Traded it in when the 69 first came out. It's now my woods gun.

I never saw them as concealed carry pieces. Rather they are great revolvers to introduce people with small hands to casual target shooting. That of course would be firing .38 Special. Secondarily they'd make a light kit gun that could be loaded with .357 when desired. There are worse home defense guns for people with small hands.

In my opinion they did not sell well for two reasons. First they were evaluated as concealed carry guns and second traditional revolver buyers were suspicious of their two piece barrel assembly.

That is a very interesting variation. 60-18, wow. Am I getting old. My first J frame was a model 36 no dash.

Have one as well. Put J frame target grips on mine. Very accurate revolver. If you want to shoot 357 thru a J frame this is the one to do it in. 38 special is a piece of cake to shoot.
